Who doesn't love going to a lake?!! Joe Pool has a nice couple of state parks on the lake for day beaches as well as camping sites. So, that said....why less than 5 stars? Many years, water is too high in May/June so the marina parking lot is flooded...hence no marina ramp nor restaurant open. And, because of the less than easily controlled lake levels...the Corp of Engineers can't allow homes around the lake to be close to the water. And without the homes, no private boat docks. NW of the metroplex, Eagle Mtn Lake has andsome gorgeous homes (and 1 castle!) That makes some nice boat sight seeing tours. But, even if you did want to enjoy just the nature...what about the fishing. Crappie? Yes! They are there and fun to pull up.....but the bass and the catfish? I used to go to this lake almost daily, so it's horrible state really...
