This trail is awesome I see some people say they only spent like 45 minutes walking it, well we must have got lost because we were in here for like 3 hours, you can take tons of turns! It is paved but you can get off the paved trail and have some fun. I think the signage is funny like splinter cat sightings. We ran in to a Boy Scout building, read the historical society signs, also ran in to the Forest History center and really wanted to get on the tower and then were super bummed to see they are only open Wednesday-Saturday. We still enjoyed exploring through the camp anyway we were the only ones out there. If you look closely you can see they have some plants labeled like the ferns and some silly wobbly bridges. I like the history, looking over the water at the spot that used to bridge the Mississippi River. It’s so quiet and the trees are so tall it’s really a neat place and It was a good time. Outside the park if you get over by the Pillars of Grand Rapids they have a cooler with water bottles sitting outside. And a heads up the Mosquitos are terrible so I’d bring the bug spray and wear long sleeves or pants with a good pair of...
Read moreUpdate: my 2nd visit in two years. This time I walked all of it including the unpaved parts.🚶🏻♂️This time I discovered it has a logging camp, horses 🐎, visitor center (closed Monday), and a fire tower 🗼 😯. You can climb 🪜 it. Who knew?🤷🏻♂️
