I was part of a school trip my granddaughter went on and that I helped chaperone. It's one of those stories you always hear about, about how you never visit the sites that are in your "neighborhood" even though you've lived around them most of your life. I was absolutely blown away by the Caverns... I am usually extremely uncomfortable in small spaces, hence my reasoning for not visiting earlier. I should have paid attention to the NAME...CATHEDRAL...it's all of that and more. Claustrophobia only occurs in a confined space, none of that here, even with a group of 60 kids and adults... Our guide was tremendous and if I could remember her name I would post it, so I'll say sorry, that I can't remember. She was very knowledgeable, entertaining and fun. But all of her expertise was dwarfed by the sheer beauty and enormity of the CATHEDRAL... If I seem to overuse that term and in capital letters no less, it's because it fits, pardon the pun. I plan on going back and not just once. I want to take better lenses for my camera to get better pictures. Although, let it be said that phone cameras are perfectly adequate, I like a good SLR with a correct lens for the atmosphere to effectively capture the essence of where I visit. I will stop rhapsodizing now, but once I re-visit, I will update this with even more, maybe even a photo or two... GO,...

Be advised that some of the ramps may be steep for those that don't walk well, and the floor is wet. The con is that the tour groups may be large and there is no age restriction. It was also darker than many other caves...

There is 100% humidity in the cave, but it’s 58° and chilly, so if you get cold way I would wear pants or bring a jacket — maybe both!
Buy your tickets in advance on their website because tours sell out fast, especially on...
