This place i first visited with family on our way out to Albuquerque for one of my nephew's BMX races he frequented and participated in. The drive is somewhat hidden and is a shortcut to Albuquerque from the White Mountains in Arizona. It's not busy, but please watch out for elk and deer as well as smaller animals while traveling at night. During the day, the place is beautiful and the old lava flows are often hindered by the very scenic cliff and rock formations on the east side of the highway. The ventura rest stop is worth it and there is a wheelchair accessible trail going up to take a better, closer look. Very satisfied with the cleanliness and people met while there. Never a bad time to visit no matter what...

Beautiful natural arch that you need to see in many different lighting and weather conditions to properly appreciate. The parking is ample and the viewing trail is short and easy.

These being the only public restrooms between Quemado and the gas station at I-40, they get considerable use and are often pretty disgusting, especially since they are used by folks who don't understand pit toilets and don't do the proper procedures to keep the smell down (1. ALWAYS CLOSE THE LID 2. Keep the...

The Arch and the area is beautiful. We were there at around 11 am and the sun 2as shinning right above the Arch so it made taking pictures a little hard. It was so pretty here. There were only a couple of other people around. The path was marked and had gravel on it. It was a nice little walk up to the Arch. Someone had found a bunch of bones and they were laying on a picnic table. It would be very nice to have a picnic here. There are bear proof trash bins to use. It also has two pit toliets. They were clean and had plenty of toliet paper. The visitor center is only open on Thursday through Sunday so it was closed on Tuesday when...
