This campground is in a beautiful location! But, it like many state park campgrounds, is in need of updating. Our family of four different sizes campers visited for a long weekend. The main road around campground was narrow and the spots are also narrow making it very difficult to be able to get backed into the spots even for the smaller campers. And if campers across street were already present it was almost impossible. Some of the spots even though paved were VERY unlevel. More than a slight grade! Some campers (not our family) even had to turn their camper across the spot after they got up the grade to be able to level up. The shared water access is not great but doable if you knew to bring extra water hoses. The dump station needs to be relocated so that those not requiring it's use do not have to sit in line to exit the campground. There seemed to be alot of wasted area in the center field and making roads for the golf course carts that could be used to improve travel and spacing for the campers ......since it's...
Read moreThe staff I was grateful for helping me sort my confusion on where things were and where to park , other facilities etc , was a very nice lady that worked in the booth you drove thru to enter campground area and the trails listed just to the right of the booth , she had an adorable little black dog she was getting ready to walk and was kind enough to take the time to help me first . Gave me great directions and pointed out other areas I may need while visiting the park . After a bit of yoga and starting the walk I recalled the rash under my arms and walked back to ask to use the facilities to rinse them from the stinging sweat and she was nice enough to point me in the right direction . Beautiful park , clean facilities and from what I know nice and helpful staff . The handicap showers and toilet facilities are nice and large , not making you feel squeezed in , well cleaned and stocked . I don't know about the men's of course but would assume it is just as accommodating . Enjoy your time...
Read moreWe camped at Grayson Lake State Park for a week in April 2019. We chose site #54, which was situated between a playground and bathhouse. The site was paved, level, and the water and electric were easy to access. It was tricky maneuvering our 27' travel trailer onto the paved pad because the driving lane is quite narrow. The campground as a whole seemed well maintained, the bathhouse was kept clean, and there was little noise to complain of despite it being spring break for many nearby school districts. The water spigot did crack overnight our first night due to freezing temperatures, but they were quick to repair it, and the showers in the women's bath were difficult to adjust for a comfortable temperature. The dam and lake are very nearby so we were able to utilize the picnic area and playgrounds located at the marina. There are no major grocery stores nearby, so be sure you have all your supplies and groceries. There is a well-stocked Save-a-Lot a few miles away if you are a...
