DON'T GO UNLESS YOU HAVE BASE ACCESS!! This is on base so we were denied access. You can only get base access if you have someone with access sponsor you (is what we were told) I completely understand that they need to keep the base secure/ safe don't understand why they have a meusem if the public isn't allowed to it... like who does go there? And nothing I read online prior was screaming this information. So disappointed kids but we found other fun stuff to do.

Edit 4/5/25 Thanks Rob for your response! My review was based on our experience and how we were treated at the base entrance (kind of rudely to be honest. We are just a patriotic MT family wanting to see the museum and were treated sort of like criminals 😆) We were told by soldiers there that the museum is on base, therefore we need base access to visit it. If this information we were told was incorrect, perhaps they need some training or refreshing on where to direct guests who...

The Malmstrom Museum is on an active base, so you will need to check in at the visitor station first to gain access to the museum. It also advised to call ahead to make sure Rob the curator is there as he is a one man show.

The museum is small but provides a great deal of information about the bases mission on operating the minute man 3 strategic defense missile system. Rob shared a lot of history of the base and was patient with kids and their questions as we toured the inner displays.

The air park has a few static aircraft to check out in of the different aircraft that once used the base. An interesting fact on the base is in WWII the Soviets came to get aircraft as part of the...

Fantastic military museum. Wouldn’t have guessed, all things considered, but this is a lovely display of military power that has been part of the landscape in northern Montana for decades. Definitely worth a visit if you’re interested in military history.

One thing to note, however, is that this is behind the gates of a military installation, so you will need to contact the museum director for access if you don’t already have a CAC or other means of entry.

The only reason that I gave it four stars is because the facility isn’t always open when the sign says it’s supposed to be. Went by twice before closing time and the curator had...

Made a trip here from NY with my daughter 30 years after i was stationed at this base. Went to the Visitor Center and they said the Museum was closed for the Day. Asked if i could see the static displays. That was a negative. At least i got a picture in front of the main gate. Great place not to visit.
