I made a stupid mistake and thought my dog had it in him to make the hike out to Trout Lake and back, from the second overflow lot. It was far too hot and by the time we got to the lake, he was vomiting, foaming at the mouth and panting uncontrollably. I put him in the water and that helped a bit. Then While trying to make it back to my truck, having to carry him in my arms (but had to stop every couple of minutes because of how heavy he is) Park Staff driving past in a gator(4wd vehicle) refused to help us. I begged and pleaded with them to please just give me and the dog a ride back to my truck so I could get him in the air conditioning but they refused. It would’ve taken them 5 minutes to get us up to the overflow parking. Instead, my dog remained in the 95° temps for over an hour more. Thank God for some good Samaritans that stopped to offer ice otherwise I may have lost him. Absolutely disgusting behavior from the two young men driving the gator. What is the purpose of having them drive around and check people if they are not willing to help? When I was leaving the park finally I saw the same two cruising around doing nothing. So disappointed in the youth, and whoever is in charge needs to educate them my taxes go to pay their salaries yet when I needed them, they refuse to help. It’s 2025 though and I’m used to selfish unhelpful young adults at this point. And to think our taxes pay their salary and they aren’t willing to help, it’s just exactly the kind of thing you’d expect in 2025 America. I will make sure everyone I know knows this story and knows that they are on their own out there at Trout Lake. If you have an emergency, they will not help you. The gators are only there for them to drive around, enjoying their time apparently. My dog is only alive today because of my ability to carry him 2 miles and the fact that we came across good Samaritans that had a...
Read moreI've been coming here for over 30 years. It's still amazing 👏 The park was extremely clean. Bathrooms are well maintained.
Loved seeing them cleaning & raking the sand on the beach ⛱️ for visitors. The fishing 🎣 was really decent. Perch, large mouth, and bluegill were hitting plenty. Plenty of picnic tables & grills are available. Over the years, I absolutely 100% love the diversity of families visiting the park & everyone is incredibly nice and pleasant to each other. A beautiful place to spend the day!...
Read moreWe came on 7/21/24 specifically because of the positive reviews about bringing their dog to enjoy swimming. We immediately saw a “no animals” sign on the lifeboat and got bullied off of the beach by nearby families. We should have asked the office if dogs are allowed when purchasing the rec pass to confirm and not waste $19 plus our time making...
