To Owners response —- we do not own or would ever let our 15 year old son ride a motorcycle without a license — he was riding a bicycle with a BEE that is designed to carry a child in it (kids were 6 and 9) and we apologized for him riding without a helmet. Which had no effect on the review and boring stay we had…… AGAIN —- THE DAY WE WERE LEAVING ONE PARTY POSTED A REVIEW WHICH ONWER STORMED IN YELLING threatening us THAT SHE HAD 24 hours to REMOVE THE REVIEW OR ELSE HE WILL MAKE SURE EVERYONE IN OUR PARTY IS BANNED FROM ALL CAMPGROUNDS IN NJ INCLUDING HIS . 🤣 laughable since then we visited 5 other places and had no issues with booking any of them —- and as for his campground TRUST ME WE HAVE NO INTENTIONS OF EVER SEEING HIS FACE EVER AGAIN so he can ban us all day every day . ✌️. Also IF YOU TENT BE WARE OF BEARS I SEE PEOPLE POSTING BEARS ON THIS CAMPGROUND VERY OFTEN . We saw one as well see pic!! And if you think all the great reviews on most Facebook sites are true you would be surprised - i know for a fact some of the moderators remove any type of negative comments (ex: someone said their pond is too small to kayak ) 2 min later comment disappeared…. And I have plenty of those screen shots . We went there due to “great” reviews now we know it’s all fake and paid for . ……………………..,………………………..BELOW IS THE ORIGINAL REVIEW —- We camp multiple times a year and never had negative experience at any other place like we did today. Let me start off by saying that neighbors from our party posted a review about the campground and needless to say the owner didn’t like it … WHILE WE WERE PACKING HE STORMED IN SCREAMING THAT THEY HAVE 24 hours TO REMOVE THE REVIEW OR HE WILL BAN EVERYONE IN OUR PARTY FROM ALL CAMPINGS IN New Jersey FOREVER !!! The review was nothing more than just honest opinion due to similar reasons below . The threat that he will ban everyone from all campings was unwarranted and made us understand why this site has mostly great reviews because people are afraid of him and his staff . And now my honest opinion - If you're planning to bring your kids to this campsite, think twice! The lack of activities or entertainment for children is surprising . My kids were bored out of their minds. Very small playground , the fishing pond also very small , another pond advertised is pretty much non existent can’t even sit by it to enjoy some nature , there were couple concerts at night but directed towards the adults. Everything at the store was pricey .Very hilly and very tiring for smaller kids while walking up and down hills , Beware of BEARS do not let Your kids out in the morning other campers said they have seen bears on multiple occasions it’s a standard there , bring spray for ticks plenty or those as well . Highly recommending changing your reservation to right across the “street” to Panther Lakes very friendly atmosphere lots of activities . STAY AWAY FROM NOT SO GREAT Divide IF YOU DO NOT WANT TO BE THREATENED AND TREATED LIKE GARBAGE . Wish I was fast enough to take a video of owner yelling because it was extremely unacceptable and scary for the kids that started crying when he left .

My kids (ages 12 & 9) really enjoyed it. They swam, they fished a lot, we brought their bikes, which they rode often, my wife made it crafts. The views are truly spectacular - who knew Sussex county could be so beautiful. Many stars. For kids from Bergen county its really what we needed. We had a fire every night, roasted marshmallows & talked. My wife & i reconnected. They have sites for everyone: from flat spaces for tents, to RVs with easy access & all the hookups, to mobile style "tiny homes" with kitchens, baths, multiple beds, lofts & even air conditioning. It was great. Some folks live there year round in their RV, others spend extended stays over months & weeks. They have maintenance people to help, its clean, & well taken care of. The little store has everything one could want or need for a short stay. But for longer you need to bring your own food & drink. Foshing is catch & release only, bass & catfish; be prepared to release small box turtles. We were pleasantly surprised & very happy with our stay.

What an amazing place! From the minute you drive into the beautiful tree-lined entrance you feel relaxed and safe. The online check-in is superb and the email follow-ups are exactly what we needed to make it easy. As we entered, we took in the views... cool wood-carved sculptures, green meadows, a lake with canoes and Adirondack chairs, a cute general store, and a pavilion for events. The entire staff was super friendly and helpful, from the store workers, to the wood and ice delivery people, and all the other grounds keepers. Our site was private, yet near everything and we could still say hello to passers-by. Their mask policy made us feel comfortable without feeling restricted. We were surprised at how many activities they offered for kids and adults, like archery classes and soccer lessons, plus special events like a zombie make-over! The live music in the evenings was also fun and a great way to end the day. We highly recommend The Great Divide and can't wait to go again next season.

This campground is great, unless you're part of a VERY large group... like ours.

Every year (for the last 41 years) our extended family goes camping all together. I'm talking 75 - 125 people and yes, I know that's a TON of people all camping together. Family tradition and it's awesome.

The campground itself is BEAUTIFUL, stunning even! Also the staff were, for the most part, very friendly.

However (and the reason for my 1 star review is...), that is the end of my praises. Where do I even begin?

The showers are so small you cannot get undressed or dressed in the stall if you are over 5ft tall. I'm 6ft and skinny/muscular and I could barely fit in the shower itself, every time I moved an arm my elbows were banging on the walls. Quite uncomfortable... Seems like showers were made for dwarves, midgets and gnomes rather than regular-sized humans.

Next topic... I have NEVER in my life had to sign as many forms as I did to go camping here... I honestly wouldn't be surprised if my wife and I owe them our first born child after the forms we signed this past weekend... absolutely ridiculous! It's a campground guys, not a lunar landing...

Now down to the meat and potatoes... we had a very large group as aforementioned. We reserved a rather large area for our group and specified that we were a noisy bunch that only get to see eachother about once a year and we stay up late, drink good tequila and play music and sing around the campfire, etc, etc. The campground said, "no problem we'll stash you away from other folks so you won't be disturbing anyone". We thought, great, problem solved! Hardly... The campground "forgot" to reserve 3 spaces in our area which were then booked by 3 families with little kids. Now we love kids, many of us have little ones of our own, but our kids apparently are anomalies and can sleep through everything/anything and these other kids are made out of glass and must be lulled to sleep with sweet silence.

Friday night, the security guard came at 11pm asking us to quiet down. At midnight he came back and said they were still receiving calls from our "neighbors" complaining that we were still up making noise. at 1am we were threatened with being kicked out.

TGD, you were warned, well in advance and thoroughly. We were promised everything would be great and we had nothing to worry about and then we were threatened to be thrown out because YOU made an egregious error in your planning and logistics. We have family members traveling from all over the country to be together, sometimes from as far as the west coast! Threatening to throw out our group is not ok in the slightest.

Despite this, the next day, my two cousins and I went down to the main office and had a very candid and very polite conversation with the manager who assured us they would do everything in their power to make it right. This ended up being that they offered (via voicemail) to the three families who caused our group so much frustration and turmoil the previous night to move to other sites; which they declined.

Not well-handled, but moving on... last, but not least... is this the most expensive campground on the East Coast? We were charged $50/night for two adults. Most campgrounds that we have gone to in the past are $10-$15/adult per night and have WAAAAAY better amenities and services than TGD. Cleaner, nicer, larger restrooms and shower stalls. Garbage & Recycling pickup for big groups as long as we keep everything organized and tie everything up in big bags. This campground offers nothing... it's a serve-yourself kind of situation with no flexibility. We had to beg them to deliver firewood for our bonfire! We bought probably an 8th of a cord of wood and didn't want to drive down and grab little 5-log packs and load them up in a couple cars... so we asked if they could deliver a larger quantity. "no, sorry" was the first answer, then we asked to speak with a manager... finally they agreed and dropped off firewood.

Whatever... you get the point. Somewhat needless to say, we will NEVER return to this...

First let me start by saying, I have never written a review. That being said I feel I need to warn any potential customers about this place. Let's start by saying I arrived at Great Divide, there were 2 women there helping customers, she asked me to give her a minute so I waited. There was a couple being helped by one of the workers , the couple told her they wanted a quiet area. The worker pulled out a map of the campground and said " I have a couple of spots open here", and pointed on the map. The other worker told her " Oh no, if your looking for quiet not there those people are from Jackson Heights Queens. I thought WOW that's crazy, she didn't know I was part of that group. I told her excuse me, I'm part of that group. She tried to cover it up jokingly. Anyway we registered and were on our way. Our group was about 35 people, adults and children, we get to our area and start setting up. Some people setting up, some barbecuing, other just hanging around. The night goes on, fire pit, dominoes, music and food. My wife takes my 4yr old grandson to the bathroom and comes right back and tells the bathroom is filthy, I mean c'mon during COVID really,??. I tell her listen it is what it is, mind you this is our first time camping ever.. Around 8:30 a worker comes over to tell us the music is to loud, ok no problem. It's been a long day for some, we turn the music off. Few people are still hanging out cooking and eating and talking. About 10:30 another worker comes by and tells us to keep the noise down. Ok I understand the music, now all we're doing is talking and having a few laughs. I'm sure if they told the person who arranged this that by 11:00 it has to be dead silent we would not have come here. BUT no problem few more people went off to bed and 3 or 4 people remained . Around 11:30-12:00 a gentleman not wearing any I.D, any type of uniform, not even a flashlight just dressed in regular clothes comes outta no where and starts shouting " YOU PEOPLE, would you people shut up, u got me outta bed in the middle of the night " by this time enough was enough. We shouted back who the hell are you, he identified himself as the owner of the campground. He says if we dont shut up he's gonna kick us out we told him we cant leave right now we have small children that were sleeping . Then he says he's calling the cops. ( listen we had kids and babies in our group sound asleep, our talking wasn't keeping them awake) cops arrive they give us till 12:00 the next day to leave. The next morning the person who arranged this went to the office to speak to management about what happened, ( because he was asleep thru the whole thing, so much for being loud) As he walked into the office and identified himself the worker told him to get the __ck outta here. We couldn't believe it, after exchanging words he comes back and says let's go. We finish getting ready and cleaning up and leave, he stops by the office to let them know we were leaving, and what about our refund . We were paid thru till Sunday. He politely and calmly asked her about his refund, the first words outta her mouth were, "don't make me call the cops, WHATTT. oh and this time we recorded the whole conversation. My advice to ANYONE who plans on staying here is to always have your phone ready to record and protect yourself. The Great Divide is the perfect name for this place, because that is what they do, Divide instead of bring...
