Southgate Farm is a beautiful refuge of a farm. Tucked next to Southgate Park and Boetler Park the farm helps make up 6 miles of walking trails. Park at the lot off of Mt. Pleasant and walk past the gate to access all of the trails.
The farmers Rachel and Justin are incredibly kind and hard working people who want to share organically grown food with their community. It's a small-scale operation that grows by the day with their love and attention.
There's a farm stand right next to the gate by the parking lot on Saturdays 9-12 from late Spring to early Fall. Southgate sells the most delicious and nutrient dense vegetables, bread from Joe's Sourdough, grains/flour from Mud Run Farms and there's usually someone from Caalm farms selling eggs, meat and flowers. They also sell at the North Canton Farmer's Market on Wednesdays from 3-6 and have yoga on Thursday nights from 7-8 and you can sign up on their website.
I'm so grateful for this beautiful space and healing food....

But they did claim that they would maintain parts of the wildflower field. That was wiped out within a year. The diversity of wildlife - birds, butterflies, dragonflies - used to bring in visitors from across the state. That field supported the entire ecosystem of the park. Gone are the hard to find nesting bird species like Yellow-breasted Chat and Yellow-billed Cuckoo. There are no more dragonflies on the ponds or in the old orchard paths, no more ebony jewelwings and butterflies along the trails...
Read moreThis is a beautiful organic farm and a great place to get local fresh produce. I love driving onto the grounds and enjoying the farmlands. There is a barn open to the public with a self service area (honor system--accepts cash and mobile payments) with meats, cheeses, veggies, jellies, lotions/chapstick, teas and other seasonal items. The last time we visited, we got to meet the family and they were kind and welcoming. If lived in Canton I would go there weekly...
