DePauw Nature Park — Attraction in Greencastle

I’m thrilled that this land was acquired and shared with the public. For many years it was illegal to enter the property and now the beautiful terrain is available for all to enjoy. The Welcome Center, Amphitheater and numerous marked trails make this a wonderful place to casually walk, many use the trails to run and quite a few places to sit and enjoy the wildlife and scenery. A great place to spend a few hours. The quarry trails were wide, smooth and easily walked. The woodland trails were a little more rustic. My wife and I were there on Thursday June 8th. We passed very few other walkers during our visit. The quarry was impressive both from the bottom and the top. We saw various vultures and hawks flying overhead. We had a good time and will go back. Great trails with good variation. There was a quarry there that has a great trail around the upper rim, a trail through the middle, one along the creek, and several through the woods. The quarry bottom has trees and shrubs growing in it and there is water...it is cool looking both walking through and from above. There is also an observation spot near the parking lot where we saw planets...
