I despise how animals are treated in zoos. This little zoo was no exception. We were in a group of 10 people. We ate a picnic before going in, which we loved doing at their picnic tables provided. Their restroom is outside of the zoo before you enter, so that was convenient. The gift shop is also accessible without paying for tickets. The lady that was running the gift shop when we were there was completely amazing!! My oldest daughter is autistic and wanted a couple of feathers from the pheasants and she had gone in (later in the day) and retrieved them for her. She was amazing! The gift shop is extremely inexpensive. Ok, so we all paid for our tickets and bags of food and train tickets. Very reasonable. The smell, entering, is atrocious from the deer. It smells like diarrhea! Gross! Most of the animals in the park had no food and their water wasn't filled. It was very hot that day! A lot of the animals were napping. Their enclosures were super small for their sizes. I hated how the animals must've all been feeling. The park is decently nice with lots to do, other than look at the animals. It has many many hills and inclines, so be prepared to hike! The employees we all were in contact with were very friendly. All in all, if you're wanting to experience a small, pretty standard zoo, this...
Read moreWe visited today from Erie, PA. We got to the park around 4, and they close at 5 on Sundays, so I was worried we wouldn’t have enough time. Regardless, we arrived and used the bathrooms. Masks are recommended, but not required, so we chose not to wear them. The young lady working the ticket sales was so kind and helpful. My son and I checked out the animals and yes, it’s sad they don’t have a ton of room to run, but it’s just like any other zoo. It’s what they’ve known their whole lives and they all appeared healthy and well fed. Their cages and the park itself was very clean and if you’re worried about social distancing, there is plenty of room for many people. The staff was all so kind!! It was so refreshing because our world is so full of angry people right now. It took about an hour to get through the park - be sure to bring some extra cash for pony rides, animal feed, and the bird room (it’s all worth it). I wish we would’ve had more time, but it was a perfect Sunday drive out there. Oh, and the woman working the gift shop was so nice!! I wish I had these folks’ names. Great job on your staffing and this park is great. I can’t wait to come back and picnic with the whole family and then explore the park for longer. Wish it was...
Read moreGreat family fun Wheelchair and walker friendly park, but it is hilly in spots, so be aware! The animals all look and smell healthy, well cared for, staff seem happy and enjoy thier jobs. Did not ride the train, ran out of time, we arrived at 4 and the park closed at 6, I use a walker and we took our time feeding at each cage allowed, "mined" for crystals at the old west town, so do give yourself time to enjoy and not just run from end to the other. Light rain the day we went and some of the animals, mostly the camels and sheep, were in thier barns per thier choice but all the others were happy to see us. Seriously, they seemed to enjoy the company! Concession stand and restroom available at 1/2 way point, where the train and old west town is and benches throughout the park for resting. Souvenirs available at entry. (Restrooms at entry are older and not what I would call handicap accessible, a walker or wheelchair will not fit easily or at all, be aware) All in all a wonderful day trip , check website for prices, adult was $10 each, Food for animals was $2/$5 for nuggets/crackers and they do have quarter machines with corn. Take handy wipes, the cows 🐄 like to lick your hand when you...
