I would give zero stars if I could. This was the first park my wife and I ever stayed at over ten years ago. We went back for the long Memorial Day weekend and were shocked at how far it had fallen. For the second year in a row, they had no water, and seemed surprised about it. Our first night there, the bathrooms were shut down and water spigots didn't work. It wasn't until the following morning they trucked in portable toilets.

A quick look at past reviews showed this happened the year before, you'd think they would have been prepared on such a big weekend. Nope. Furthermore, many of the bathrooms, like the one near the camper's beach, hadn't even been cleared of leaves and debris, suggesting they knew it wouldn't be opened and didn't bother getting it ready.

Two days of portable toilets, which quickly became disgusting, as well as toilet paper and bear bottles littering the area that were never cleaned up really spoiled this for us. On the second night we were able to use showers with little water pressure. Showers that appeared not to have been cleaned in days.

The trash and recycling dumpsters were overflowing, trash everywhere around them, as well as around the locked up bathrooms and portable toilets. Heck, if there'd been a single trash can around I would have cleaned it up myself! I have no idea what the many staff members driving around on their little carts were doing but it wasn't cleaning or fixing the bathrooms.

Quiet hours were not enforced by the park staff. Instead, people were told to call the local police. I have stayed at state parks in 7 states and never once seen local police patrolling state parks until now. Police cars and officers on bikes were seen patrolling. That's not why we go to state parks. There's a huge difference in the atmosphere when you have militarized police patrolling vs. friendly Ranger staff.

There was broken glass on the camper's beach, which by the way is far inferior to the day use beach on the other side. Apparently day users get the nice beach while campers get the swampy side. We witnessed a little girl slice her arm up on broken glass in the sand at the camper's beach.

No trail anywhere other than the paved roads was maintained, cleared of debris, or even fallen logs. None were blazed or marked in any way that we saw. The "trail" to the camper's beach was a nightmare and not something for the faint of heart.

The campsites themselves are big and have decent sized flat areas, but are not apparently cleaned between campers, or really maintained much. Our fire pit was full and there was trash on the site. No dead leaves or debris seemed ever to be removed, making the awful tick problem even worse.

I was ashamed to bring our son to this park. After the fond memories we had regaled him with, to see how far it had fallen was heartbreaking. We will never go back to this park and are unlikely to ever try another State Park in NH again. There's just no reason for it when the parks in VT and ME are so nice...

This past weekend was my first time at Greenfield since visiting as a kid probably 20 years ago. The campground is fairly nice, quiet, and most of the sites seem to be private enough for comfort, though I do have some legitimate complaints. The park staff was kind, while maybe not overly friendly. My major complaints are both with regards to cleanliness, and I truly hope that those in charge of the campground will find this review and take it to heart. When we got to our site, had not been raked clean. I'm not sure whether this is something that Is normal at this campground, but usually, sites at other camp grounds are raked clean between occupants. There was garbage in and around our fire pit, candies melted to our picnic table, and wrappers on the ground, which we had to clean up as soon as we got in at 11:00 at night (late check in is super easy, thanks!) this was more of a nuisance than a turn-off, and was honestly not a huge problem, just something that we noticed. There are plenty of restrooms, and with those I have no complaint. They are easy to find and were mostly clean. However, the showers are a huge huge issue. The men's side was certainly not the cleanest environment, and could use more frequent and thorough cleaning. My girlfriend (who generally enjoys the outdoors, and has taken ice cold outdoor showers in the pitch dark in South Africa) was left with an especially uneasy feeling after seeing the atrocious state of the women's showers, which appeared to have been neglected for some time. The shower items leftover in stalls, and carpet of hair underfoot, the cigarette butts clogging drains, and two people in the next stall over clearly not using their shower time to get clean, had her rushing out of there saying that if this is how camping always goes, it is not something she will likely be doing again. Get it together Greenfield, the rest of your park is beautiful, don't let the showers bring it down and ruin anybody else's camping experience. We liked most things about the campground but will most likely be staying elsewhere...

This used to be a nice peaceful tent camping spot, but that has changed.

I called ahead and made a reservation for one night of tent camping. We have an RV, but my kid likes to tent camp once in a while. This has been our go to tent spot because the sites are quiet and woodsy, there is a decent beach, plenty of biking areas, and a decent playground. Due to the lack of hookups, we never had a problem with big RVs cranking generators away all day/night. For some odd reason, that has changed.

We got to our site and had an RV next store with its generator cranking midday. There are designated generator hours, but apparently this person did not care about that. I asked if they planned on keeping it running all night and they said, "probably, because it was a warmer day". I was able to blindly change sites and ended up next to another RV. This one was a smaller unit, so I was hoping they would be more courteous. It was nice and quiet while setting up, but things changed later in the afternoon. The generator came on at dinner time and lasted until about 9 PM. Then bright and early it was back on again, cranking away. It ran for several hours and was running when we left. We also noticed a lot more RVs all over the campground, much more than we have ever seen.

We went to the beach for a bit and that was a party zone. Large groups of people with music blasting and dogs running around (next to the large no dogs allowed sign). I didn't see any workers stop in to check on things. It was disappointing to see the campground like this.

I did give it two stars because the bathrooms were clean and the check-in staff was very friendly. Maybe this year is an anomaly because the RV campgrounds have been booked. I would come back in the future, but will be a lot more careful...

We had a blast here, each campsite was clearly marked and the loops were also clearly marked with signs along the way as well. Bathrooms and shower building were all well maintained and clean. Quiet hours are from 10-7 but there will always be an occasional conversation or laughter from a nearby campsite that can be heard. Dogs are allowed on camp sites but not on beaches (though I saw people bringing them anyway), so expect the occasional barking too. Each site comes with a picnic table and a fire pit + grill. Ours had some glass bottles and aluminum cans in it when we arrived so be wary before starting a fire. There are no electric or water hookups at the RV sites. You can tent camp at RV sites though, which was nice. The park office was well stocked and had an electric hookup available for people to charge their appliances or air mattresses.

Good state park! Felt a bit like a state or national forest campground! Lots of great hiking nearby - we did Ted’s trail to the top of North Pack and Crotched Mtn. Stayed for a week in mid June and had wonderful weather. Sites say max length 38 but our fifth wheel is 41 with the bikes on back and we had tons of space (though much longer and we might not have been able to get into the site from the road). Really depends on the site - many are huge like this one (171) and many are definitely small camper or tent only. Super quiet during the week and lots of families tent camping on the weekend - a fun atmosphere but never too loud for us. No hookups and mostly tree covered so take that into account - we ran our generator a couple hours most days even though we have lithium and solar.

Stayed in September 2025 during the off-season, which meant very few people around—a big plus. Check-in staff were friendly and welcoming. The beach and swimming area were excellent, and the park had some great bike rides. Everything was very quiet, with plenty of space between campsites—much better than the packed, commercial-style campgrounds. We didn’t bring our dogs this trip, but agreed it would be a fantastic spot for them since the sites are so spread out. We would definitely stay again. A note for anyone with a fifth wheel: at site 87 you’ll need to pull all the way into 88 to get in, or else back down the road. I recommend walking the area first to see if pulling into 88 will give you the best angle to back in. 12 minutes from North Pack Monadnock trail head
