The pumping station holds a lot of fond memories for many people who grew up in Greenfield and surrounding towns. A few years ago now, the iconic covered bridge was destroyed during a hurricane. The loss of the original bridge and all the memories it held was most certainly tragic. But now, we have this beautiful new bridge that you can actually drive over. The old one had lost its ability to to support vehicle travel. This spot is still a wonderful place to day trip and relax. You can even enjoy some swimming in the river. I initially came here after work because I wanted to check it out and have a swim. The misleading pictures in the reviews would suggest that this is a public space with parking areas, perhaps a picnic spot, and access to the river for swimming.

If you can find a parking spot on the road, you can visit and walk across the bridge. It really does not see a lot of traffic. It's a bit disappointing that it has come to this, but people today don't respect or appreciate the location and ruined a great area for all of us.
