Griffin Dog Park — Attraction in Greensboro

This dog park used to be so great, but now it is pretty gross.

The dog water fountain (if it’s even working) is filled with dirt and mold and who knows what else. DON’T LET YOUR DOG DRINK OUT OF IT! BYO water and bowl. The garbage can is rarely emptied and it smells so bad that it makes me gag.

The BEST part is that the small dog side is infested with 1) yellow jackets, 2) bald-faced hornets, and 3) European hornets. This has all been reported to the city multiple times by multiple people and nothing ever gets done about it.

I concur with the people who note that many dog owners do not actually watch or control their dogs, which can be a big problem. I know exactly who the other posters mean when they comment on other people blaming everyone else but themselves. And YES there is a guy who says every other dog “snaps” at his dog when it’s always his dog that starts things. Lol

The large dog side floods easily, so many times the large dogs will be in the small dog side. My small dogs are super scared of big dogs, so they are defensive and stressed when this happens. If I ask people to go to the correct side, they get an attitude. 🤷🏻‍♀️

As out of towners, this place felt unsafe. I was in town for an event with my daughter and our dog. Our hotel was just up the road with no room to let our pup run. Found this online. As a woman, this place didn't feel safe. There was no way to drive back. You have to walk into an unknown building to get "access" to the park... how am I supposed to walk in with my dog? Leave her in the car? Not only that, but there were men sitting in their cars in front of the playground. I'm sure it is perfectly safe and has no issues, but as someone from out of town, it didn't have a...

Great size. Left is for larger dogs. Right is for smaller dogs. The left side has a low point that runs through the middle- this is where water collects and gets SUPER muddy. The dog park is a good walk from the rest of the rec area. There is a gate at the top of the hill. Not sure if it's always closed and locked, but it was when I went both times. People just drove over the sidewalk and through the grass to get to the dog park. It's tearing up the grass so why is the gate even there? But overall great size park. Garbage cans and bags available. Clean enough....
