Can I give it 10 stars?
I have been playing here since around the mid 90โs and have never regretted a trip there. The course is always immaculate even during difficult weather. This course drains wells.
2017-2018 their were many improvements including a redo of all the greens. โImprovementโ is a key word. I didnโt think there was much that could be done to improve a spectacular course but I was wrong.
This is one of the most scenic courses on the RTJ Trail. The views are unbelievable and unexpected given the location. Wildlife galore.
I love this course for many reasons.
It is uniquely challenging, a little different hole layouts than other courses.
I like that it is a 38 minute drive from Montgomery to a great, UNCROWDED championship golf course. Itโs so laid back. Peaceful.
The pro-shop is one of the biggest and most well stocked on the RTJ Trail.
The course is made up of 4 separate 9 hole tracks, 3 championship and 1 par 3. Short Course, Loblolly, Sherling and Canyon. Put 2 championship courses together for 18. Itโs an older RTJ Trail course, one of the original courses. Newer courses have 18...

As we walked into the clubhouse an employee was literally stoking a newly-built fire; I mean, how much better can it get? The staff was friendly and helpful, the over-seeded fairways were well-drained and a delight to hit from. I will say, like all the other RTJ courses I have played, playing from the correct tee is imperative. These courses are challenging (but fun) and if you play from the wrong tee, they become very difficult. Also, the greens are crazy fun and tricky; I'm not sure a flat surface exists on these greens. However, this is not a criticism, it is actually a compliment because these greens were a lot of fun to putt. For lunch the special was spaghetti and meatballs, garlic toast, a salad, and a piece of pie for $12.00; an excellent deal. All-in-all we had an awesome time and I will hopefully...
ย ย ย Read moreCambrian Ridge is a stop on the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail in Alabama. Played the Canyon & the Sherling 9's. There were quite a few people out on the golf course, but our 3-some played in 4 1/2 hours. The course was in excellent condition. The course has been remodeled since I last played it. I could not recall most of the holes. The remodel work has all grown-in. The site is hilly, with sand traps both in the fairway and around the greens. The greens are fast and very undulating. I would call this a target style course, you need to hit specific areas on the fairway to be able to score. However, it is possible if you show some patience. I have played other RTJ course's (Silver Lakes, Grand National, Capitol Hill, Ross Bridge) Cambrian Ridge ranks with the best in terms of difficulty. The service in clubhouse, grill, drop-off attendee's, on course marshall, and cart girl were all excellent. Can't wait to play Cambrian...
