Washington County Welcome Center — Attraction in Greenville

Wow, we stumbled across this welcome center today.

The staff were friendly and helpful, and we picked up some good tips on places to eat in the town of Leland.

By all means, look around, esp upstairs. The second floor is packed with some pretty cool exhibits. There is a lot of information about the famous Jazz and Blues players that are from this area. We must have spent an hour on the second floor looking around.

The place is kinda of worn looking on the outside. The boards on the decking are warped and bent. Don't let this deter you from going inside.

I fish lake Ferguson frequently, because of the rain today I parked at the back of the lot to wait it out. I do not live in Greenville and did not want to drive all the way home. The employee at the center called the police on me. NOT VERY WELCOMING!!! The police officer was very nice. Because Greenville is a very high crime area, I thought this parking lot would be safer. Stopped to eat lunch because I saw picnic tables. I walked towards one of the tables with my dog and was immediately yelled at and told “other side” and “read the sign”, as if I was illiterate. I missed a no pets beyond this point sign. I would not recommend...
