This is a stunning bridge in nearly pristine condition. We were a little nervous driving over it, because it is difficult to tell if anyone is coming through unless you're practically inside it. We parked on the southwest side of the bridge, across the street from a home, and may have parked illegally. Berks County has some wonderful covered bridges.

Not sure what I can say about this covered bridge. It was my very first covered bridge experience, during a day trip to Pennsylvania on Tuesday, March 12, 2024, and it looks like it is a single lane, in that if there is at least one car on either side of this covered bridge, only one car can drive through, at a time.

There are not many of these bridges around anymore. Just had a truck damage one in NJ, but fixed within a week. This is out in the middle of no-where with no-where to park. Next to someone's house with no trust passing signs around. So go to the end of the street. Built in 1869.

Pennsylvania has more covered bridges than any state in the nation and this is why. This bridge was in need of serious repair, and this crossing doesn't lead anywhere of import, nor is it busy at all. (in fact it sees almost no traffic) Any other state they would have closed it down and let it rot, or replaced it with a modern, ugly concrete span. However it not only got rebuilt, it got rebuilt properly. It's simply gorgeous and I go out of my way when in the area to cross it. And to reviewers on here who respond "it's just a bridge"... You go build one, and I'll review yours. Thank God I am not like these people, where something this impressive, historic and attractive bores the h*ll...

I lived in LenHartsville back in the 60's we'd be going over that bridge more time's then I can remember, turning left once over the bridge and going about 1/4 mile there's a small pull over spot. We'd go swimming in a hole that was there, deepest part of the creek at that time, the good old day's, the road going to our swimming hole was dirt back then, don't know what...
