This is an absolute gem. Upwards of 5 miles of trails, well maintained, through diverse habitat— bottomland walnut timber, upland prairie and oak savannah, fringe timber, and of course the seven days of the week ponds. The Sunday pond is farthest, but probably my favorite— with duck nesting boxes (not occupied currently it would seem) and a heron rookery! We counted five nestlings among three nests (two more might have been active as well). Three adults were perched or flying nearby. We tallied 45 species of birds on our morning walk. Really a sublime place. The views of the wind sweeping through the prairie grasses here remind us of how beautiful our native landscape must have once been.

Very secluded and nicely maintained. Some of the hills can be steep for smaller legs, but if you like to walk then this is a very pretty place to do so. There are farm fields in the area so if you go in the spring you might catch a wind of some "fertilizer" but if you are Iowan it shouldn't be anything to worry about.

Beautiful scenery and very well maintained trails and facilities. Walking these trails makes you feel like you are not even in Iowa.

I am ecstatic now that I discovered this park. One of the most beautiful parks in Iowa. What a hidden gem near Central Iowa. I'm going to go back for every season. Pictures don't do...
