I had the pleasure of hosting my wedding here. From the start the communication with Bethany and her associates was great. I loved that while the Branford House is not a specific wedding venue, they had wedding-specific items (including chairs and tables) available for use. They also provided a list of vendors that are familiar with the property. While Branford House does not require the use of a specific caterer, they do require using UConn Catering for bar services. UConn catering was great to work with, it's just something to keep in mind. We hosted an outdoor ceremony with an indoor reception both at the Branford House. It was the perfect setting for my husband and I, however, because the mansion is on the water, it was very windy. Additionally, because Branford House is technically property of the state, if you rent the property for an event the rental does not extend to the sidewalks behind the property-- meaning that if you take pictures outside you may have strangers in the background of your photos depending on how your event is staged. My husband and I did not have this experience, but it is something that we considered when...
Read moreAs a wedding photographer, I adore capturing moments at The Branford House. The venue’s picturesque charm and attention to detail provides the perfect backdrop for capturing timeless memories.
The versatility of the venue is endless. It's the perfect blank canvas for making your vision unique & designing your decor to your own needs. Whether it's a grand outdoor celebration with a clear tent on the patio or a simple ceremony overlooking the ocean, the venue offers a variety of spaces to suit any couple’s vision.
The grounds are just breathtaking. The lighthouse, the rocks by the water, the ocean, the architecture-it really just doesn't get any better than that. I can take portraits here all day & be a very happy photographer!
Overall, I can confidently recommend The Branford House to any couple looking for a breathtaking location to celebrate their special day. I can't wait to be back for more weddings & to work with their incredible staff...
Read moreI hosted my wedding here and despite some issues I am very pleased. The floor plan is a bit odd but with some creativity works well and was perfect for our reception which was more of a "cocktail hour all day" feeling. The venue is gorgeous and the venue managers are very helpful. It is nice that they will let you bring in outside caterers, but they do have an extensive list of requirements for the caterer so either hire off their list or make sure you communicate well with your vendor. If your wedding is in the daytime like mine, note that the art gallery upstairs is open to the public. People will be able to walk through the upper level, which is above your reception, to get to the gallery. It didn't end up being a problem but was a shock since we had asked and the manager had told us it would be closed assuming our wedding would be after 5:00.
