Pequot Woods Park — Attraction in Groton

We loved this hike. It's a short walk to the pond and there was lots of wildlife there, including giant bullfrog tadpoles. The rest of the loop trail we took (blue to red to blue back) is shaded and beautiful but not too tough even though it's rocky and you should wear sturdy shoes. Good trails make up a minority of the overall system. Most trails I encountered were either full of roots, rocks, running water (without bridges) or all three. Not sure what storm(s) went by here within the last couple of years but you seriously cannot count the amount of fallen trees all over the place; no one has that much time. Pequot Woods is a small park with a pretty, well defined walking trail. March 2025: some maintenance needs to be improved. There were large black plastic tubes to conduct water around the pond, and other minor debris that detracted from the view a little. Don't let that stop you from going though.
