We like this port. We stopped in for a vote to eat. It is the only place open . The restaurants in the port are closed due to the Pandemic. We got the croissants. They were very dry. I got the egg and cheese. I couldn't find any egg and the cheese was like card board. It was early in the morning and I'm sure the employee was busy but if she knew they weren't fresh , she should have said something . As I was i paying for them the lady who make a them came with a fresh batch. If I had known that I would've paid for a fresh new croissant. My $3.50 croissant was thrown away. They had a coffee machine where you could get lattes, cuppinos etc. The cuppino was good. I Did enjoy that. I know there is a pandemic but now I'm leary of buying items if they aren't good. You have to wear a mask in there and keep your distance. It is a small market. They also had souvenirs. I don't like making this report but I didn't like my croissant. It is a nice to place for coffee but I'm not sure if I eat there again. It was very disappointing since...

all 5 stars to the janitors. my fiance and i love fishing up here. we've fished everywhere along the santa barabra and ventura coasts. nothing but porta-potties at every dock. these bathrooms at the end of the pier are WONDERFUL. stocked, clean, well-lit and maintained. easy to find and easy to use. the lights have a timer, so the lights might turn off while you're using them. the bathrooms have windows, and a long, open space, with an air-dry hand station.

as for the fishing, great. we always catch something even if it's small. during the day, there are boats, kayaks, and many birds to watch out for. otherwise, its lovely and we love being able to park on the pier,...

For those of you that aren't familiar with piers. It's a wooden bridge like structure that extends out over the water. This pier extends out into the Pacific Ocean in a really nice location with the best weather on the central coast. You can even drive your car out on this pier. The first thing you're going to come to is a coin-operated skiff hoist for boots that are thousand pounds and under. Next is a fishing charter named Patriot. Then towards the end of the pier you'll come to a restaurant called Mercy's it's pretty good prices aren't too bad. Next is a fish market and then at the end is a a little more pricey formal restaurant called...

Have you ever eaten literally over the ocean? 🌊
You’ll find Mersea’s Seafood Restaurant sitting right on the Port San Luis Pier near Avila Beach one of those classic California spots. The whole place sits on a working pier, so as you eat you can actually watch sea lions, pelicans, and fishing boatscruising by. 🦭⚓️ ✨ What to expect:
• A casual, dog-friendly patio with ocean views from every seat 🐾
• Fresh, local seafood — fish tacos, clam chowder, fish & chips, poke bowls 🍤
• The smell of salt air and the sound of waves under your feet 🌊
• Sunsets that paint the entire pier in gold 🌅 📍 Location: Port San Luis Pier, just a few minutes from Avila Beach (and about 15 minutes from Pismo).
🕐 Hours: Usually open for lunch through sunset (closed some weekdays in winter).
💡 Tip: Grab a table before sunset — the view of the coastline from the end of the pier is unreal. Whether you’re road-tripping the California coast or just looking for a hidden gem near Avila, Mersea’s is the kind of place. #CaliforniaEats #CentralCoast #AvilaBeach #PortSanLuisPier #MerseasSeafood

I come here just for the view. So neat to be able to walk to the end of the pier and even take the stairs down to the water. Always be careful of the wildlife, especially when down by the water as the seals can sometimes find their way up on the lower platforms. There is parking at the end of the pier but just a handful of spots if you drive out there 😇 People fish and watch wildlife from the pier as well as have lunch at the restaurants that are on it.

A beautiful place this time of year to visit. Small pier off if the main pier with seals for the kids to see and if you're lucky you get to see an otter or two. Two restaurants to eat on at the head and one in the pier itself. A great fish market at the end of the pier with live and filet fish, crab and other awesome seafood and treats. If you have kids park at the end and walk it or you can park out at the end in one of about ten spots.
