Merizo Pier is a pretty good place to have family and/or village functions. A great place to launch off from thus allowing you to fish in the "lagoon' -- that's what we call it at least. Fishing is pretty good and although a lot of fishermen would say that the area is becoming "fished out" you're still able to catch a fair share of skipjacks, mafuti, lililok, gadao, and if you're lucky, lapu lapu! After a few hours of fishing there are more than enough faucets for fishermen to wash down their boats afterwards.
The pier hosts many events such as the Merizo Water festival, their annual crab festival, and as part of some annual event too where swimmers race from the pier to Cocos Island and back again--something I'd never do!
The only thing that the pier could probably use improvement on are their restroom facilities. I'm glad that they have them available in the first place, but man...it could use some Pine sol or bleach every now and then (thus the poor to...

More common to see small groups of people playing their own music and enjoying the vibes. Shower area is available and even a vendor who sales fruity drinks and pickled made locally. Everyone who is there is friendly and doesn't mind sharing the area. One time the family even stayed the whole night till the next day just enjoying the beautiful water and mangoes collected from the homes around the area. I totally recommend this place...
