Compared to the west beach, this one has LESS people because it's farther away but definitely worth the drive. The dog limit in both beaches is a small space that can be walked from one end to the other in a minute and a half. Here's where it gets good: East side beach (Lot 28.5) is apart from "civilization" so practically the entire beach is for dog owners. We spent two entire days at the beach and the Lifeguard truck passed various times both days and said nothing, also a sherriff passed on an atv 4wheeler and nothing. (Everyone there had dogs so, who can complain?) Also, no dog was on a leash; but the dogs were well behaved. I would suggest a LONG leash if your dog is one of those extremely friendly, jumpy, and overly excited. West Side Beach (Lot 21B?) is just crossing the street from people's homes. We were stuck in afternoon traffic behind a bus dropping off kids. You are required to stay in your small dog section and have them on a leash. It was overly crowded when we went, but we did see people just crossing the street; so we think it's like that all the time. I gave 5 stars because it's difficult to find places that are pet-friendly; and this was an awesome experience for us and our pup. The view was beautiful, no crowds, dogs running up and down and in the water having a great time.. everyone was friendly. I definitely plan on...
Read moreWe went at sunrise to take pictures. There were only a couple fishermen, one with a small dog with him. We left only pawprints in the sand! 🥰
P.S. this is a small dog beach. You can’t really have your dog play freely bc they require your dog to be on leash. Quite silly right? I mean who takes their dog to the beach to play and swim in the water with the leash on!? Maybe tiny dog owners but definitely not big dogs! You’ll likely have more chances of being dragged into the water while throwing that ball for your dog to retrieve and that will not be a glorious experience especially if that leash goes around your leg (ouch)! Maybe come really early before the other dogs get there (if you know what I mean😅). FYI, there are other dog beaches around that don’t require your dog to be on leash while swimming. We take ours to Bayview dog beach instead. She doesn’t bother other dogs, she only likes to fetch her ball in the water. There is also another dog beach in Perdido called River road dog park. They can swim there without a leash. Another one farther down in Navarre (no leash required) is Liza Jackson dog beach. Hope this...
Read moreGood for small dogs who sit on the blanket. I've been here 8 times since I moved here and have been approached by some sort of ranger, same person each time, 4 times...50%. I had to listen to her talk about the rules each time, except once, when I guess she thought I was okay, my leash lrength, did I have the proper tag on the dog,, you must have direct control, was he off leash. I throw a floating frisbee 15 feet into the water for him to retreive, sometimes I let go for about 10 seconds, she's so serious. Tells me today that she has to be this way because tenants in the high rise view the beach with binoculars and call her office to complain. Never experienced such ridiculous and unprofessional behavor. I've to many places with my australian shepard and have NEVER been treated like this. Takes all the fun out it. What's the use of having a dog beach if they have to sit like a lap dog? It's fine if you have a lap dog, otherwise, I'm going elsewhere, keep your paltry 200...
