A wonderful area for birders and walkers/hikers who prefer a flatter trail. Depending on season, good viewing for waterfowl, shorebirds, raptors, songbirds. Great Osprey return to nest on platforms around March/April. Blue Herons return to their rookery area between Feb - late spring.
Sometimes owls can be viewed on full moon nights in winter. (Note: adjoining property Walden ponds closes at dusk but Sawhill Ponds is open later.)

It seems to imply that dogs are allowed off leash with tag but goes on to say must be leashed west of main parking lot. Be advised, all dogs must be leashed on whole trail.
