Local hiking spot with moderate climbs. There’s a trail that’s wheelchair-friendly, so it’s more accessible than your average trail. Came here on a Saturday morning, and there were quite a few people who were running/biking/hiking. There’s free street parking in the neighborhood, and the small parking lot in front of the trail entrance was roped off.
Some parts were moderately steep, but it’s a family-friendly hike. When you get to the top, you can see a nice view of DTLA. The trail is exposed, so wear sunscreen. Most of the trail is also compact dirt, although the beginning part was asphalt. There’s a porta-potty available at the bottom of the trail. No water fountains were available. There are multiple paths, and maps are available to help you navigate, as many of these trails are interconnected.
Overall, the hike was decent and there’s an array of options for novice to more...
Read moreThis is a really nice place if you are looking for a short but moderately hard hike. It is pet-friendly. Keep them leashed because there are a lot of little creatures around. I love how the trail goes through picturesque hills. If you are going in the summer, Coyote trail(first left off the main trail from the parking lot) goes through the North facing side of the slope. It has lots of shade and you get really close to the plants. The Ahswinga trail which runs in the middle is a wide ascending trail. The trails are loops and joins in with the other trails so you can choose how far you want to go. There is also a bathroom at the trailhead. Word of caution: poison oak is everywhere. Learn to identify the plant...
Read moreGood and fairly clean trail for hiking. Intermediate level of intensity. Plenty of friendly street parking near entrance unlike Turnbull Trail. Loop from entry gate to water tower is roughly 3.5 miles according to my activity tracker. There's even a restroom, porta-poty, at the base with water fountain access if you're not scared of tap water. Several switchbacks with good views of the San Bernardino mountains on a clear day. Once at water tower you can see downtown LA. People here are generally nice and respectful but there is always that ghetto person who will be hauling their loud music. Overall a good...
