We have made coming here for pumpkins (and sometimes u-pick strawberries though it's a challenge to find good ones in October) a Halloween tradition in our family for 3 years now. What we love is that it's how I think pumpkin patches should be: never crowded (even on October weekends when all the other pumpkin patches along the coast are packed), affordable (pumpkins here are significantly cheaper than many other pumpkin patches), no-frills (no rides, mazes, bounce houses, etc. ... okay, they do have corn hole which my kids like playing), and close to nature, i.e. you're on a real farm. So many pumpkin patches have become so removed from their roots of being literally a "patch" on a farm where you get pumpkins (they've instead turned into mini-carnivals), that's it's a well-needed and refreshing change to come to Blue House.
As a bonus, unlike many other pumpkin patches that sell over-priced processed junk food, they have an extensive selection of fresh, organic produce (I highly recommend the Jimmy Nardello peppers!) in their barn (they also have baked goods from a local bakery and some cold drinks). I actually buy produce from them quite frequently since they are a stable presence in the SF farmer's market scene, but it's great to physically be at their farm and get produce as fresh...

Wasn't able to fill up even one brown box that they provided, ended up leaving with less than 2lbs. We saw groups of people leaving with at least 5-6 brown boxes each filled to the brim with strawberries. If you're planning on coming tomorrow, you shouldn't since there's nothing left. If you are planning for next weekend I would come Saturday right when they open. Would have been a great experience if they limited the amount each person could pick to save strawberries for those coming by afterwards. Not worth the drive from San Francisco unfortunately since there isn't enough...

Lot of juicy and sweet strawberries to pick. After awhile, we became experts in strawberries picking. Watch for the leaves which 'stand-up" and the slightly dark red colored fruits, it's super juicy and sweet. Brought our fruits back to the small hut, other crops were also available for sale. Love the sweetpea flowers, $5/bunch. the prices are written on the chalkboard, you just need to weight and pay. Will come back next spring...
