Came here first time for hiking as it closes to SF, about 30 minutes drive without traffic. Foggy in the morning & got sunnier towards noon. Walked on Hargin trail (not sure if spell correctly) since I parked at North Ridge parking lot. Plently of parking if come here early. By the noon, it will be full same as the street parking. Flat surface for walking but can get bit of muddy in the midway due to the rain from the day before. If you want to avoid muddy road, check the weather ahead of time. Many tall red wood trees along the side, found couple banana slugs but not a lot. Very easy trail to walk from the parking lot as starting point but will be uphill when walk back to parking lot. Make sure to use restroom prior because there's no restroom along the trail. Bring water & wear comfortable clothes if planning to come here during summer as it can be hot & sweaty. Will definitely comeback for summer walk & different trail. Heard purisima creek trail is nice with bridge but didn't have time to do it. So that will be the trail...
Read moreIf you choose to come out here for a day trip you'd see an awful lot on foot but the real treat is if you can dedicate a few days to exploring the Purisima Creek Redwoods Open Space Preserve. It ranges from 410 to 2,020 feet above sea level meaning that the biomes change a bit. I spent a few days around these parts allowing trees to whisper their secrets and the wind to lull me into a peaceful state of mind. I personally enjoy bikepacking or as some call it "Rough Riding" and can say that the ride out here was thrilling and a worthy experience. I encourage all to come with friends and family once the Pandemic has subsided. Again, as Sars-Cov-2 rages plan for restrooms, picnic areas, and drinking fountains to be closed -- it would be wise to bring you own gear and supplies for such inconveniences to be mitigated. For now come solo and reconnect with nature, she will always reward you for such...
Read moreI’m grateful that we are now have more access to the coastal trails thanks to POSTS and this is one of the beautiful trails there is in Half Moon Bay. Although, currently it’s only open during the weekend but it’s so worth walking through this trail. Come during the spring time and the scenery rows after rows of wild flowers will just take your breath away. You can also bring your bicycle here on this trail as well. The parking space is very limited, so plan your outing early to ensure that you can have a spot and explore the scenery. This is also the trail that connects to Ritz Carlton hotel. Be sure to check out Bob farm stand right across from the parking lot. He has the BEST organic strawberry...
