My friend and I drove up from Lancaster this week, taking the country roads over the mountain, even crossing over the Appalachian Trail. It was a gorgeous day to see the fall foliage colors. When we arrived at the winery, there were no other guests - it was around 1:30. We met Joanne who was working in the store. We listened to everything they had to offer, and we were most interested in her suggestions as to the tasting options. We took her advice as we chose our "flights" - we each had the larger pour of five wines. We asked her to pick the wines for us. She did an excellent job of this! We were surprised as we sampled each glass - we shared so we actually got to sample 10 wines. For you folks who are considering a visit, this is an excellent idea as neither of us was familiar with the Armstrong Valley wine selection. To top off our experience, Joanne ushered us out to the beautiful enclosed porch where we sat to enjoy the wines. We also had some of the snack offerings - beef sticks and cheese which were a good accompaniment to the the wine. After finishing one flight, we still had wine in the second flight ... but we needed to take a break so we left everything on our table and ventured out on the walking tour of the property. Wow - what a gorgeous location in the Armstrong Valley. The restoration work of the old buildings is very well done. We liked the Granary and Summer Kitchen buildings which have been updated for overnight accommodations. This would be a lovely place to stay! The two horses in the barn were friendly and there were quite a few cute cats on the property. It is a good place to visit. It was a perfect day trip from Lancaster. We returned home via highways and the trip was, of course, much shorter. I can highly recommend this location. The ambiance was terrific. Joanne knows the wines and took very good care of us - thank you Joanne! And the wines are outstanding! I bought a case (some for gifting, some for me). Oh yes, there is a gracious discount for a case. Happy wine touring at the Armstrong Valley...
Read moreCame here for a date night with my honey & it was an exquisite evening thanks to our wonderful server Kayla who made our tasting room experience so memorable. We each ordered $15 3oz flights, & charcuterie boards. Looking back we could've ordered one charcuterie board though. For my sweet wine people, the polecat is amazing. If you're into spicy, I recommend the fired up; it kicks a sweet & spicy punch. The blackberry merlot was a nice semi sweet wine, perfect to split for folks who prefer sweet or dry wine. Back to Kayla--she was attentive to our needs, offering water, popcorn, and at the end, sweet treats. She truly made this experience so wonderful & the environment would not be the same without her. Overall, 10/10 recommend this beautiful vineyard. They have a tasting room, patio off the tasting room with live music, back patio with cute hanging lights, and extra outdoor seating with additional space for another music act. Oh, and I love their pond, which is filled with 500 gallons of rainwater that comes...
Read moreDelicious wines, good prices, and free tastings (up to 5). The most amazing cran-apple cider you've ever had.
What a wonderful place. It's one of my favorite PA wineries! The wines and ciders are great, and they attend a good deal of festivals, so be on the lookout.
The venue itself is great. There's parking near the tasting room, and a patio to accommodate larger parties. The workers are just ready to serve and make sure you have a great time. I had a small bridal shower there with no reservation, and they were so kind to us, even agreeing to let us bring in outside food for the party and providing plates and napkins.
As for the wines, they have some amazing sweet wines, some chocolate-infused fruity wines, fruity dessert wines, a fair selection of dry to semi-dry, and the most amazing cran-apple sparkling cider (120 calories and 10 grams of sugar for a whole bottle... how DO you do it!) I left with a case, and I can't wait to...
