Searching for a great hiking destination in North Jersey?🥾🌳❄️ 📍Stokes State Forest (Sussex County, NJ) boasts a variety of trails catering to hikers of all skill levels! 📌During my recent visit, I explored the grounds and discovered a fantastic visitor center equipped with information and facilities. The helpful staff provided recommendations, guiding us to the trails. 📌I highly suggest starting with Stony Lake, a tranquil and peaceful spot. Additionally, consider taking the short Stony Lake Trail around the lake for a scenic experience. 📌After enjoying the lake, we drove to the Sawmill & Silvermine Parking Lot on Kittle Rd. This area offers casual spots for parking. 📌Begin your trek on the Stony Brook Trail, marked by brown trail markers, and enjoy the many beautiful streams and water features along the way. 📌From the Stony Brook Trail, transition to the Silver Mine Trail with its distinctive orange trail markers. 📌After exploring this trail, you’ll reach a fork where you can cross over to the Blue Mountain Trail, marked by blue trail markers. 📌For the final stretch of our hike, we continued on the Blue Mountain Trail, returning to the bridge we had encountered at the start of the loop. 📌Although we should have crossed the bridge to reach our car, we unintentionally followed the brown Stony Brook Trail and discovered one of the campsites. Even in winter, this site offers working facilities, a playground, picnic tables, and additional parking. 📌We walked along Kittle Rd. to return to our car. I thoroughly enjoyed this easy-to-moderate loop trail, covering a little over 4 miles with minimal elevation gain and rocky terrain at certain points. 📌Stokes State Forest boasts more than 20 marked trails, including 12 miles of the Appalachian Trail. 😆I am eager to return for more hiking here. 🥾Happy exploring, and don’t forget to follow me for more fun things to do in and around NJ and the Northeast! #njblogger #newjersey #njhiking #njdaytrip #explorenj #visitnj #sussexcountynj #northjersey #northjerseyadventures #nj #stokesstateforest

My wife and I visited it and loved it. It has a nice area for kids, families, or dogs, plus plenty of hiking. We went there for some nature photography and a picnic. We loved it. Very beautiful.

I have not been here since the 8th grade for a field trip MANNNYYYY years ago 🫣 Such a tranquil place; quiet, clean and peaceful. There was no swimming allowed, but there were plenty of people canoeing. There are also benches and grills for bbq'ing. Our 6 year old enjoyed being disconnected from technology, while trying to catch frogs (with...
