When coming to Mohican we traveled 14 hours to get there. Upon arrival the cabin floors were covered in dirt. We stayed in the century house due to several families coming to be together for our yearly get together. There are rat traps everywhere, along with dust and spider webs throughout the house. There was no privacy as workers use the front porch as the walkway to wherever they are going. We have 1 family member who was exposed while a male worker walked right by the windows. Also as we would lay our toddlers down for naps it seems their break room is connected to the century house because workers were walking under the deck bouncing a ball. Since we have so many families we have been going to the local laundry mat where we witnessed workers stuffing and I mean cramming white laundry sheets into the washers. We took pictures because to prove that there was no possible way to even fit another pillow case in the washer. How in the world are the sheets clean at this place? Gross!!! Also, when we researched before coming public drop in for your own personal kayaks this place came up as having public access to the river. When we attempted to drop in with our family we were told no. We have to rent from them. SCAM! They said it was a liability even though we were doing all the work to get our kayaks in the water. We are highly trained and skilled kayakers on the water as we do this avidly and this is not new territory for us. When trying to speak to the workers they were very rude and dismissive. We have spent thousands of dollars to stay in a dirty cabin, with very little privacy and dirty sheets. I will never come back to this place again. So sad because we literally spent a fortune between our families to come have fun and...
ย ย ย Read moreWhere do I start? This place is just wonderful. My family of 4 stayed in a cabin over memorial day weekend and couldn't be more pleased. The cabin was updated and has a full kitchen with satellite TV and 4 beds (you could probably sleep 6 or 7 depending on who wants the couch/floor). Very clean as well!
Step outside and you'll find a nice little screened in back porch with a 4 seat table and two Adirondack chairs. Right outside this was a picnic table with a nice fire ring that has a grill attachment, all right up against the river for those who like fishing like me. Very large yard for the kids to play and the cabins aren't really that close together.
For memorial day weekend this place was packed but because of the no alcohol policy you don't have to worry about a bunch of idiots ruining your time. I suspect responsible adults will drink in their cabin/camper and keep to themselves, which is commendable and expected to some extent.
The playground is pretty big and although it was hot in the sun there's trees planted all around it so as the years go by the whole park will be nice and shady, and in the mean time the pool is right next door and could fit about 100 people.. really nice kids section there too.
Forget something? No problem, the camp store has all the goodies you forgot at home or ran out of, although there's a slight markup for the convenience... That's to be expected.
There's also a large picnic area, an underwhelming basketball court, and of course the amazing trails to hike and mountain bike. What more can...
ย ย ย Read moreThis is such a beautiful park to go hiking in. Lots of wildlife, small waterfalls, gorgeous forest, and beautiful rock formations. There are a ton of fairy bugs here in the warmer months. They're fluffy, white, and look kind of like fairies, hence the name. I've actually never camped here but I've heard it's awesome. I have done lots of hiking here over the past 15 years. There are mountain bike trails too that look pretty fun. I've been meaning to take my bike out there for a while. This is a peaceful, serene place that will help you get back in touch with nature. I've also taken river trips through Loudonville Canoe Livery and Mohican Adventures. Mohican Adventures is better because they have double sided oars and the other place doesn't. The river is usually a calm level 1, but depending on the day and time you go, there might be a lot of people on the river drinking, smoking, and relaxing. Houses along the river offer lots of entertainment. There's a guy who dresses up in a bigfoot costume, stands out on his deck, and talks smack to people floating down river. He's absolutely hilarious! Other homeowners have hoses set up spraying into the river so you can cool off if you want. I definitely recommend kayaking or tubing the Black Fork River while you're camping here! You'll be making lifetime memories here...
