Wintergreen Gorge — Attraction in Harborcreek Township

Wintergreen Gorge is an easily accessible paradise not far from the City of Erie. You can escape there. It's peaceful and filled with wildlife. Cascade Creek is shallow in most areas. It cuts a beautiful path throughout the landscape. The area is kept up well and the pathways are clear. Once you visit you will want to see more. On a more recent visit today Oct 26, 2023 I noticed a great deal of improvements made to the trails and surrounding areas. The trails are wider and there are more wooden boardwalks built where the trail was wetter at times. They are making attempts at delaying the trail erosion and that of the hillside. A wonderful place to go whenever you need to clear your head or want to go on an adventure. The paths are easy, but if you want a challenge you can find it. The creek that runs through the gorge has some little but wide waterfalls. The paths can get quite muddy and they'll stay muddy for some time afterwards. If you go to Penn State Behrend, I strongly reccomend you explore the gorge in your freetime or when you're stressing out it really can help. The view from the top near the Ohio lot is outstanding, and one of the best. Be careful of broken glass bottles at the area near the Ohio lot. What a beautiful place! I was in town visiting some friends and they brought us here. So let me preface with saying that I am a big city girl and not one to go hiking nor am I “outdoorsy” so know that this is not my area of expertise. That said, the trail we went through was not too difficult, plenty of little pebbles were one can get their footing and not fall on mud. We walked down to the creek and took in the sights. Truly a beautiful place and enjoyed every second of this experience. One thing to keep in mind though, the parking situation is a little tricky, so just come prepared with that in mind.
