My hubby & I went to Sergeant Jasper Park last weekend for a charity (helping needy young ladies)with a silent auction. They had some beautiful things to bid on & I did so! We came home with a droid, I bid on for my hubby, donated by Tech Toys. I bid on & got a 3 Lb. Prepared Container of Macaroni & Cheese & brought home! We brought home an outdoor Big Man's Two Seater Swing, that reclines donated by Lowes! I bid & got a facial donated by Therapeutic Bodyworks Center here in Ridgeland! I also won a door~prize which was a gift certificate from Bed Bath & Beyond! What a fun day!! The mayor from Hardeeville, Mr. Harold Williams was a guest speaker, he touched on the many good things that is going on in Hardeeville now & what is planned for the future! I liked hearing, there are plans in the making for a new YMCA! Mr. & Mrs. Ray Brown did a great job in planning out this event. They would be the first to say, without the donations from the businesses, & without the volunteer's, who worked hard in putting it all together, it would not have worked. I'd like to applaud all those who made this event possible! God bless you all! It took alot of work to organize this event! My husband Jim Fosnight had been asked to sing and did so. He chose some Christian Songs & the crowd loved him!!! Sergeant Jasper Park has a beautiful facility to rent for events such as this. It is lovely to sit out on the back porch, in a rocking chair while feasting your eyes on the beauty of this country setting. I had been there only one other time & that was at a church brothers birthday party. I felt good knowing that hubby & I helped in a small way, the needy...
Read moreSo at first glance this part does not look like much but I'll be honest it's a hidden gem in the rough. My family stopped by there last summer while we were visiting my relatives in the area and we are looking for something to do. My dad had suggested checking the park out and when we arrived I had brought my disc golf stuff. Who was honestly a bit too hot that particular day and we decided to try to put the kayaks in the water. Unfortunately, as they hadn't had a lot of rain, the ponds were too low and it was kind of sketchy with the possibility of alligators. In the end we opted for taking in the beautiful scenery I'm letting the kids play on the playground for a little. I was just in town for a surprise birthday party for my mother in February and the place had been fully rejuvenated with rain the ponds were full and my brother and I decided to play around of disc golf. Let me tell you that was a very challenging course that it was enjoyable and fun. Not only that but we were able to rent the disks from the main office on the property. The lady in the office actually remembered me and my family from when we were there earlier last summer. Friendly as can be, discs are 2 bucks a piece to rent. I highly recommend this Little gym hidden away right next to the highway if you are ever...
Read moreThe disc golf course is always fun to play. This was my home course for a couple of years. It's very technical and wooded, with only one or two holes that are wide open. There are several water hazards along the course. If you lose a disc to the drink, DO NOT GO AFTER IT. There are alligators in the water. A $15-$20 disc isn't worth your life. The only complaint about this course is that it gets very soupy after a downpour. Do not wear shoes that you are scared of getting dirty. The course is maintained by the Savannah Disc Golf Club, and I wish they would replace the tee pads with concrete. The rubber pads get very slick when wet. I will say that they do a fantastic job of keeping the course clean, and the trash cans empty. The course is off the beaten path, and a little difficult to find. This makes it all the better for those who want to play in peace with little interference...
