Turtle Beach, New Jersey — Attraction in Hardwick Township

No charge to get in last year. It was a nice place to have a picnic and swim in the water. Just be careful, no lifeguards. Bathrooms readily available and kept in good shape. Plenty of benches and places to grill. The old abandoned buildings nearby can be pretty spooky, but it adds to the history of this area. The Tocks Dam project that never was. Forced all the people out of this area in the 70’s by Eminent Domain. Such a shame.

Place is amazing for relaxing, is not crowded, groups are at distance. The place is kept very clean. The grass is nice and green. There are lots of bugs, so make sure to bring bug spray and either umbrellas or tent to cover from the aun because there's hardly any shade. Turtle Beach is located six miles north of I-80 on Old Mine Road. This area offers a grassy beach complete with picnic tables and restrooms. You can swim but I wouldn't recommend it not the nicest cleanest Beach basically it's mud

Swimming in areas of the river outside the life guarded beaches is permitted, but not recommended. Strong currents, sharp drop-offs, and constantly changing river conditions make many areas unsafe for swimming.
