
We had a wonderful hike at White Lake. A 3-mile hike there seems pretty long, btw. The terrain is up and down; sometimes uneven. But it is just beautiful, in all seasons! The history is very interesting if you want to Google it. There are a few interpretive signs, but there could be more. There are some very interesting remains of buildings out along the hikes. The property has been well restored in most areas with native grasses and flowers, so you should see a good variety of native butterflies and birds in season. The bottom of the lake actually is quite white, due to the remains of ancient shellfish after the glaciers came through. The history of limestone in the area is fascinating. Definitely worth a visit. I was a little disappointed by the fact that you could only see the lake from the trail at a couple spots but, I did come across really cool castle looking stone walls. They were about directly across the lake from the parking area. The trails were very well maintained. There were some small hills and the terrain was some gravel road, some mowed grass and mostly dirt through the woods except some rocky areas.
