My husband’s and my first time here, and we don’t plan on visiting again solely based on my interaction with the owner!!! We drove an hour out to the winery from where we live. We attended their Fall Craft Festival Labor Day weekend. After we bought a few things from the vendors, we walked around and made our way over to where the building is where their wine is sold. We were wondering if there was anything upstairs. As we were ascending the stairs, a female employee/owner at the bottom of the stairs was telling the young woman in front of us that there was some issue with the bathroom on that floor. My husband is deaf so did not hear the conversation. I commented to my husband on the space & how it would be nice to have an event there, he agreed. As we were about ready to go back downstairs, he asked me if I had to use the bathroom as there was one there. I said no, but that the owner said there was an issue with the bathroom. Immediately upon saying that, a man that was a few feet away from us approached us & said “I’m the owner, is there a problem?!” In a very nasty tone! I said no, my husband was asking me if I needed to use the bathroom and I told him that the owner said that there was some issue with the bathroom. He said “Yes! And as soon as someone comes out, I am going to take care of it!” I said okay, I know nothing about the bathroom, and proceeded to explain to him that my husband was asking me if I needed to use the bathroom and I was telling him that an employee was telling another woman that there was an issue with the bathroom….He was VERY defensive & acted like I was complaining or something when I was simply telling my husband what the female employee had said! I was so turned off by the confrontation that I just wanted to leave! My daughter was driving from an hour away to meet us, or I would have just left! She met us and we literally stayed until she purchased something at one of the vendors for her puppy, and we all left! That man was literally so mean that he put a damper on the entire day! I just kept returning to that confrontation over and over again and just could not understand it! First of all, eavesdropping on a conversation I was having with my deaf husband, secondly to insert himself in our conversation, and thirdly to verbally attack me like I did or said something wrong! That’s how you treat a customer??!! I won’t ever be...
Read moreI went here this past Saturday for the first time and was extremely disappointed. I called the winery first and asked if there were any cancelations to the Maple breakfast, the woman on the phone had a tone that came off as condescending and stated that "people do not cancel for it." Fair enough, but the condescending tone was unnecessary. She could have proceeded to invite me to come down and still experience the winery because it was open for people who were not attending the breakfast, but she did not. I decided to go there anyways to give it a shot. We went to the second floor and many people that worked there were behind the bar on their phones. Now I literally do not give a hoot if you use your phone, I get it. However when a customer approaches you and is standing in front of you and you are too busy on Snapchat and ignoring us, that's when I get annoyed. I explained to them after being ignored that I had not been there before and they did not have much to say. I suggested that I would like a flight. Two out of the four wines weren't bad but not enough for me to ever want to come back there again. The building/barn is cute and it has great potential. My advice is to hire people who know how to communicate better and...
Read moreWe had a really nice time here today. The wine and service here at Hardwick Vineyard & Winery were excellent. They had indoor and outdoor patio seating and lots of space for picnics. For the tasting, you get to choose 5 wines from their list of about 10, a range of whites, rosés, and reds. Their reds weren't full-bodied enough for me (I like dark, earthy, tannic reds!) but I really enjoyed the whites and rosés. They have some great specialty wines, flavored with pear, maple, and pumpkin. So good! We took full advantage of the discount on buying a half-case ❤ They have delicious sangria, too! My family and I enjoyed a glass of that after our tasting, sitting on the patio and listening to live music. There is a meat, cheese, and cracker snack plate you can buy to nibble on. Or you're welcome to bring a picnic to enjoy on the grounds. Really a lovely gem in...
