BeachWatch LLC - Olson Beach — Attraction in Harlem Township

Went there and didn't know we had to pay initially. So my husband and I were apart by a few minutes he had one kid and I had the other. He went by and the guy at concession clearly saw him and he didn't say anything to my husband about paying. Again we didn't know we had to pay and didn't have any issue paying the fee. The thing that got me is when I passed by and didn't see the pay signs and walked in. The guy saw me too and then he said to me that I had to pay. But he let my husband go fo free (white male) and when he saw me a Latina. He said something now. Also the water looked dirty. And they're charging 10 for a state park payed by our taxes and still want to charge for people going in. It should be free. Nothing extra ordinary there. But at least for kids...

They charge $5 for anyone over 48 inches tall and $2.50 under 48 inches tall if they are older than 3 years old. The lake is absolutely disgusting. The water is cloudy and brown with snails and bugs floating in it. There is so much algae it is impossible to swim. Stepping on the bottom of the lake is completely gross due to the algae, and you're lucky if your foot doesn't get caught. Even though it was so hot my kids refused to swim after seeing the snails and getting algae wrapped around their feet. They're used to swimming in lakes, so this was especially bad if they wouldn't swim. I was trying to cool off so I stayed in the water for a while and came out totally itchy. I used to love coming here, but it has gone Way downhill. Not really worth it, spend the extra few dollars & go to the pool! You have to pay even if you dont want to get in the nasty algae filled water and theres No seating on the beach, I mean the least they could do is put a few picnic tables or lounge chairs on the beach since they force you to be on the beach in order for your children to go into the water(even if theyre both excellent swimmers & know not to go out past their waist). I could be sitting Poolside right now while they play in Clean water & on waterslides & diving boards for the Exact Same Price. I wont be coming back...
