Schoonmaker Park — Attraction in Harlem Township

I was 8 years old when this park was developed , it is strange to come back and see that it’s almost the same. Little to no redevelopment or upgrades in the last 40 years. They still have pit toilets which were closed, but they did have rotten Porta potty’s. You would hope there would be running water and not pit toilets in a community of quarter million dollar and up homes. I hope the village of Machesney Park can put a little TLC in this place. Fun place to have picnics under pavilions, go for a walk around the track, fly a kite on a windy day, and have your kids play on the playground.
