We were excited to learn of this new winery so close to where we live. The scenery is beautiful, and the buildings are rustic and pretty. Sadly, they do not know how to do a wine tasting properly and the young man helping us made us feel like we were intruding on his phone time. As far as the wine tasting, they had 3 whites and 3 reds for $14 pp. We thought the price was steep for the Warren County area, but we went for it. We should have read the wine descriptions more closely though (shame on us). They had a dry, semi-sweet then sweet for the 3 whites and then had the flow go right into 2 dry reds and 1 sweet red. Clearly, you can’t go from semi-sweet, sweet, and then into a dry red. There’s only one outcome and that’s for the red to taste tart. After the semi-sweet I realize what was happening and asked the young man to skip the sweet white, since I really, really wanted to truly taste the Cab Franc. Unfortunately, it was still too tart due to the order of the tasting, so we moved on to the next dry red. After that I asked if we could try the Cab Fran again, since we had skipped the sweet white and the final sweet red, so we still had (in our opinion) 2 tastings to try. He said NO, it is not allowed! He explained that we can only have one tasting of each wine! Also, in between the white and red we asked for water to rinse the glass and for us to rinse our mouths, but he said that we’d have to BUY water!! I said I was not paying for water after paying $14 for a tasting, so he rinsed the glass and wouldn’t give us tap water for ourselves. Wow!! The young man could not pronounce the wine names, was clearly bored while reading the descriptions of the wine from the printed sheet and was not trained in the fact that most people who asked for a second tasting of one of the wines is likely trying to choose which to purchase. I don’t blame the young man, since I’m not even sure he was old enough to drink. This was a lack of training for his duties in the first place, and he clearly did not choose the order of the tastings. This was a lack of knowledge of wine tastings, as well as training, from the owners. The final straw was when we saw him ‘marry’ one of the white bottles, which was half empty, into a different bottle of white. I’m sure he is not aware that marrying bottles for customer consumption is illegal, but we clearly saw him doing it right in front of us. There was also absolutely no COVID protocols, and he was touching the tops of glasses, the pourers of the bottle with his bare hands, etc.! The only thing we could do was to leave without buying any wine. The wine was pretty good, but we weren’t feeling the price was worth how the tasting was handled. We are wine club members of other local wineries, but I guess we’ll skip this one...
Read moreI had an absolutely amazing time visiting Little Ridge Winery in New Jersey! From the moment I arrived, I was struck by the stunning views — it’s the kind of place where you could sit for hours, sipping wine and just taking in the beauty around you.
What truly sets this winery apart, though, is the family behind it. They are incredibly personable, warm, and welcoming, and you can tell how much passion and pride they pour into both the vineyard and the experience. It felt less like visiting a business and more like sharing wine with friends.
Speaking of wine, Red 32 stole the show for me — smooth, bold, and perfectly balanced. It’s easily one of my favorite reds now.
If you’re looking for a beautiful spot to relax, enjoy excellent wine, and meet genuinely wonderful people, Little Ridge Winery is it. I can’t...
Read moreLittle Ridge winery is a great addition to the Warren County area. When we visited it was just opening on a Friday and all the employees we encountered were so friendly and answered any questions we had. The girl who completed our tasting with us, her name was Ashley I believe, she was excellent and very knowledgeable. The tasting includes a free wine glass & 7 of their wines for $14. There are small charcuterie options available for purchase, we however did not try any. The owner explained to us that they often have food trucks & live music on the weekend which is listed on their website. She did explain on the weekends it can become a bit busy so they do encourage guests to bring their own chair or blankets if you wish.
A great place with lots of great wine, something...
