My wife and I came here for our first visit and had a nice time. It cost $12 for each of us, which at first, might seem like a lot but when you get inside and start exploring, you realize how much care goes into the gardens and how much upkeep they require and you leave feeling like the $12 is a bargain. When you go in the welcome center to pay, they give you walking tour pamphlet that does a very nice job taking you around the gardens and informing you on what you are looking at. At times, it has you criss cross around the lower gardens which is actually nice as each time you go across, you seem to see more that you didn't see the first time. There are some unique plants here from dawn redwoods, yoshino cherry trees started from the cherry trees in DC, and a ton of different bonsai trees with one dating back to 1930 and many others from the 40s, 50s all the way up to the 2000s. We spent probably an hour and 45 minutes here walking around and a few times said that we'd like to come back in the spring time to see the peonies and iris's bloom. We are also hoping to buy one of the redwood seedlings the next time there is a sale which happens every three years. If you like the outdoors and want a unique and tranquil setting for a wedding, they also do those here as well. There was one the day we were there and the setting for it was very nice! If you like plants and are looking for a unique place to go see some that are not native to our area, I highly recommend checking Schedel out. It is hard to believe the gardens were once a families yard and hardwork. They did a tremendous job preserving plants and allowing people to see different species of plants they may not otherwise have a...

Schedel Gardens are THE GO TO location for all of your wedding dreams to come true 🌸🌸🌸✨ from how absolutely STUNNING the brand new Pavilion is for outdoor celebrating, to how absolutely ADORABLE the bridal suite is! All of my bridesmaids and I literally felt like we were getting dolled up inside of a house! The suite is nestled right next to an adorable pond where you can peer out at the sweet swan 🦢 couple enjoying their afternoon swim, all while taking in a breathtaking view of the grounds. Most of all, Veronica is one of the most kind and generous people to work alongside. I feel so lucky to have chosen Schedel Gardens as our wedding venue because of how special Veronica and the entire staff made all of us feel on our big day! Look no further than these beautiful Japanese gardens for any party! You will not be disappointed! Thank you so much, Veronica! You made all of our dreams come...

Finally made it here with my son for an afternoon stroll. If you have AAA there is a discount at the gate. Quite a lovely little place with some unusual trees for Ohio, most of which are labeled...I really appreciate that. A little coffee snack bar would be great...only because I wanted a reason to sit down and stay longer in the shady pond overlook....a book would have been nice as well. I did find a nice shady spot near the torii and enjoyed listening to the waterfall. Our other favorite resting spot were the bench swings near the manor vegetable garrden. Make sure you check out the bonsai trees and the lithophanes while you are here. We also stopped at the Elmore general store...full of crafts, old fashioned snacks and sodas. You could make a day out if it if you like biking and try the inland coast...

I was completely unaware of Schedel Gardens and it's beautiful grounds until I dropped off artwork for an exhibit on the grounds. They have a nice welcome center (where the TFAS In The Garden exhibit is currently on display until 6/30/21). The gardens are decent size, but no too expansive if you unable to do a lot of walking. There is a Japanese garden, rose garden and vegetable garden among others as well as various sculptures scattered throughout.. The true hidden gem, however, is the Blair Museum of Lithopanes. Do not miss a trip through the museum. The amount of beautiful lithopanes (many of them lit up to view the details) is breathtaking!

We went here mostly for the Japanese garden they have on site. I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of that garden with the vibrant greenery in stark contrast to the red of the torii gate and Japanese maples. Coupled with the well maintained bridges and the stream with waterfall, the place oozes tranquility and beauty in a format that is hard to come across in Ohio of all places. The additional bonsai tree collection, multitude of flower gardens, and lithophane museum make this an absolute hidden gem and wonderful destination to check out!
