A beautiful place for hiking. We first went to waterfall, which was a short trail to get ourself warmed up. We set there for almost an hour. The majestic waterfall was intimidating and soothing at the same time. Be careful though as the force of water is very high. We started on the next trail from there which had shortest miles but felt like we walked a lot on those neverending staircases. The ascent was fun because of company and company of oranges. We met a couple on our way and asked them about distance and direction of end point. They told us about a junction with three options and asked if we wish to go home, select 1.3 miles of descent. Which we chose but descent was harder than we expected. It was really very steep and the jungle floor kept getting muddy every now and then because of melting snow. One of us got injured before we started and had back pain as a result, which obviously was more painful while stepping down from the mountain. Finally we landed on the rail track. There was even steeper descent to the highway from there we had to walk a mile parallel to it to reach our vehicle. But due to our friends injury we decided to walk a mile alongside the track being vigilant of any tram passing. It was after 7pm so none of them came and we safly reached the place where it was a easy way down to the place we parked. It was really an adventurous experience and enjoyable hike. I will recommend it to...
Read moreI grew up in NH, and enjoy returning when I can, to come up to the mountains. The views, as always, are awe inspiring and breathtaking. As you wind your way through the notch you will be captivated as the mountains literally envelope you on all sides with their natural beauty. Thre are numerous camping sites to choose from, with multitudes of hiking trails for all experience levels. On my latest expedition to the great white mountains of NH, we hiked Aethusa Falls trail, then continued on to the Frankenstein Cliff trail. It was at least 10 years since the last time I hired that route. It was a challenging hike, but worth it to me. I did however notice that the trail in many places was in a state of disrepair.. built in stair steps were washed out and many hikers were walking around the obstacle and creating more washed out areas. I think.. this is partly due to the fact that the NH economy had suffered so much for so many years that there's simply no money to maintain these trails. Sad truth probably is all that money is redirected to help so many local residents that are addicted and...
Read moreWhat is there to say more then absolutely beautiful, breathtaking, picture perfect! I have been in New Hampshire most of my life and in 35 years as far back as I can remember I have always felt that God has painted a picture for everyone to see. Every time it has taken my breath away and makes you realize how much we beauty that is right in front of you if you just take a few mins to look up. How ever I avoid fall not because I am color blind far from it I just don't like traffic. People from around every state will go up to see how beautiful the earth is in there remarkable colors but the traffic will also remind you that a hour and 20 mins turns into a all day field trip driving threw a city with one lane and a bunch of people on there phones or don't know how to park. I apologize I only have one picture during the winter with my best friend and it's not a good picture. A must go either season you...
