The most stunning trail in New England! The trail is tame up to the hermit lake shelter, with gradual incline and waterfall view early on. At the base of the ravine there are a few ways you can go, I went in mid May and as a hiker lion head was the only option. Going down lion head was also extremely difficult and I couldn't get back to the trail until about a mile below the ravine. Overall a very dangerous path for any hiker when there is deep snow trying to go...
Read moreWow. This was a very difficult hike up to Mt. Washington. We went with 2 kids and a dog and made it to the summit in 4 hours. The views throughout the hike can’t be beat and the reward to making it to the top is...

There are shelters near hermit lake where Tuckerman ravine and lions head trail bifurcate. Can be booked at the visitor...
