I stayed here for 5 nights and it seemed like each day I ran into an issue.
Night 1: checking in: while checking in there was a man off to the left of the desk standing there and casually talking to the woman checking me in. Idk if he worked there but his "causal conversation" didn't feel comfortable, and neither did his lingering there. I also felt the woman at the desk- didn't catch her name- could have paid more direct attention to the guests checking in than this man. It was uncomfortable and strange and the girl who checked in Before me ended up being in my class and we both agreed the exchange was awkward. When I walked into my hotel room for the first time i was overcome by a strong smell of marijuana. I'm not a particularly prude person and the smell doesn't often offend me- but when I walk into a hotel room I don't want to smell ANYTHING. This made me feel like the room was unclean or poorly cleaned. Instead of calling the front desk and making a scene, I immediately filled out a green slip of paper for complaints that I planned to give the front desk upon checkout Friday morning (this was Sunday evening) and left it on a table in the room. The same night, my TV went out for quite a while. I don't watch a lot of TV, but if I'm paying nearly $600 for 5 nights the TV should function properly. I called the front desk for this and the woman seemed irritated and I'm sure many other guests called to complain as well because she said it was throughout the entire hotel, but a little professionalism and kindness go a long way.
Monday: I started to think my fridge wasn't working. I brought meals from NY for lunch and dinner for the week, including drinks. They didn't seem particularly cold, but it sounded like it was on so I disregarded for another day. I also put the Do Not Disturb sign on my door today.
Tuesday/Wednesday: again noticed my food wasn't cold, and started to worry and wonder if it just wasn't a cold fridge or actually broken.
The hotel offers a free shuttle service which I was thrilled about. But Tuesday afternoon when my colleagues and I were picked up at the hospital from class, we realized the shuttle had been overbooked. We requested 6 seats, but when the shuttle arrived there was a passenger in the front seat which we required. So lucky me- I got to sit on someone's lap who is only met the day prior, without a seatbelt on the highway. This infuriated me.
In addition & much to my surprise, someone entered my room Tuesday or Wednesday even with the Do Not Disturb sign on the door. When I returned to the hotel around 5 I noticed fresh towels & the trash had been taken out and the floor vacuumed but the bed was unmade, and the green complaint slip was missing from the table. As nice as the fresh new towels were, I neither requested or needed them. Frankly, I was so startled by this I went through all my belongings just to see if anything was missing. I find this to be absurd & a violation of privacy. On Wednesday I finally called the front desk to complain about the fridge as my food started to wilt. Luckily they brought me another, but only after suggesting I switch rooms (which would have been extremely inconvenient as I was studying for an intense certification course held at Hartford Hospital). I appreciated the new fridge but my food was beyond help or saving at that point &had to throw it all out. By this point I also noticed the water temp in the shower was very inconsistent. Pressure was excellent but within 3-5 minutes your hot water goes luke warm.
Thursday: the TV went out AGAIN. Like I said I don't watch TV that often but if I'm taking a break from studying to check out the weather or watch a show I should be able to w/o interruption.
The hotel offers a hot breakfast buffet in the morning starting at 6 and I'll say this was the best part of my stay. They could have put more out- at times the hot trays were a little sparse, but never empty.
All in all- won't stay here again. Staff lacks professionalism and not hospitable. Invasion of privacy is a HUGE...
Read moreWe were flying out of Bradley and stayed here on the way out and the way back. I have stayed at other best westerns and thought this would be similar. But, it was far from it.
First off, the front desk staff is rude. And for some reason, the price I was paying was higher than what I booked online. No explanation given.
The entire place reeks of pot. Some other reviews said it's musty. That's not musty. That's dank AF.
I had no idea the place was being used as a half way house or I wouldn't have stayed there. It felt completely unsafe. The rooms we got already had signs that the doors had been kicked in.
The sheets were clean, but that was about it. The bathrooms had mold and mildew everywhere. Probably because the fans didn't work in any of the 4 rooms we rented. There was grime and build up on every surface. The shades didn't close completely on the windows so people could look right in from the parking lot. The air conditioner didn't work so it was hot and stuffy and humid (from the shower) and stunk of marijuana.
Kids running around crazy at all hours. Drug deals in the parking lot and hallways. The pool was closed because it was outside. Like, who builds a hotel pool outside in CT?!
I called down for extra towels because I need one for my hair and one for my body. Was told in a rude way that she was the only person at the front desk and couldn't bring any up. I said I would send my teenage kid down and she said fine and hung up. He got down there and was told that they only have enough for the number of people in the room and no extras. I called back and asked and she confirmed that there were no extra towels. I asked why she didn't tell me that when I said I would send my kid down and she said she is the only one there and she doesn't have time to deal with me and hung up.
The second time I stayed there, there was poop in the toilet when we got there. I already knew the front desk wouldn't care, so I flushed it and wiped down the bathroom myself. It looked pretty clean otherwise, at least it looked like someone, probably staff, came in and used the toilet after it had been cleaned and forgot to flush.
I only had three towels and we were four people in the room. My husband took a shower and accidentally had part of the curtain outside the tub. It flooded the bathroom. I called to ask for extra towels and was told the same thing as the week before and I tried to explain that not only do we only have three and not four towels, but we have a lot of water to clean up in the bathroom and if I slip and fall on it after asking for help cleaning it up and injure myself they will have a real problem on their hands. I was told she was the only person on duty and they don't have maintenance or housekeeping available to come help or any extra towels and to deal with it myself and was hung up on.
After the first night, I called corporate and tried to get a refund for my return flight so I could stay somewhere else. They said it was up to the individual hotel. I called them and spoke to the manager and they refused to cancel my second night on my return flight. Otherwise, I wouldn't have gone back there.
Also, breakfast was terrible. Nothing was refilled. They even turned off the water fountain, so we had to buy bottled water from the vending machine because the stuff coming out of the faucet was gross.
Don't even think about staying here. It's not safe. It's not clean. And they are some of the rudest people...
Read moreI came to Hartford for the Chris Brown concert with friends. We came Friday because the concert was Saturday, we planned to get something then head to the concert because of traffic. as we started getting ready to leave for food i saw a roach come out the outlet but when seeing that one we seen the dead one in the outlet but it wasn’t there Friday when we were getting ready. After we killed the first roach we started packing to talk to front desk because all our stuff was laid out. That’s when we saw the 3rd roach and quickly packed. Went to the front desk to let them know and see if we can get another room and we got Stephanie whom checked us in. She never apologized automatically said “impossible” with no solution. After talking about something needing to be done she called housekeeping to “clean” the roaches. We told her we were getting food and took our luggage and she said it would be all set by the time we got back. We got to dollar tree 4 minutes away (315 Franklin Ave). I got the notification about my AirPod and case being left at the hotel. I called the hotel and Stephanie answered I told her I left them in the bed so can she get them. She said yes they are working on it now I will tell them. When we got back the hotel was busy I’m guessing from the concert. We got to the room and they completely stripped the room but didn’t clean the dead roach. We were gone for 2 hours but we needed to get ready so we called for someone and she offered to put together but we needed to get ready so we got towels and wash cloths to get ready in a small corner. I also asked her about the airpods and she said they will go through the sheets to find. My location still showed the hotel. I was tracking my airpods at the concert and it said they left the hotel but was at some pet hospital. When we got back the room was put together but they cleaned nothing we still saw the dead roach. The next morning as I was packing my table a roach came out of a napkin. We got ready quick went to the front desk and asked about the airpods she said she’s going through the sheets but J showed her my screenshots where it shows they left the hotel at 3am Saturday but they were back at the hotel Sunday at 9am. I gave her the address she went to grab them and we talked to another guy who apologized and stated he was unaware and was adding a note. Housekeeping manager came back with my case and airpod. We are filing a complaint with the 3rd party we went through and they are denying all the allegations but we have photo and video proof. So sad this could’ve been handled so...
