For those of you who want a experience of the past and the way thinks were done back in the day this is the spot, I grew up in that little town of parshallville, and cant tell you the amazing childhood i had living there, I knew the owner of the mill Tom Walker himself, and his petite wife Mildred who lived quite a few years past the death of her husband. This woman would make the best POPCORN balls for Halloween and give them out to all the trick or treaters who would happen to be lucky enough to stop there and be treated by her awesome handouts. This was a great town to be raised in and everyone there treated everyone like family. Thie Mill did catch on fire back in the 70's and thankful there was some guys that noticed the fire and was able to put it out before it got out of control, And then the big flood came also in the 70's breaking the old Damn and then the chain reaction to all the dams in its way all the way to Flint, SILVER LAKE.BYRON LAKE AND ARGENTINE.Anyhow thought you might want a little history of the things that ole mill has lived through. i am not sure who owns it now and have not been back there since my mother died 20 years ago. But from the sounds of things it sounds like they are keeping up with the great home cooked and baked goods that use to send the aroma through every open window of every house in town. The cider was the best ever and the apples were more of a treat to, because it was always a great spot to go grab a apple that would set in the bins many days before they were used right out front and without a worry,we could help ourselves. I hope your visit captures a part of your memories like it did...
Read moreReally neat old mill with great history! Waterside made for great pictures. Warning! Very challenging terrain to navigate for those with mobility issues. There is a ramp, kind of steep, to get into the building. When busy there is not a lot of room to move inside though. The path to the water around the side is extremely steep. You do get a nice view from street level though and can take pictures from there. Today they had a band playing which was really nice. The donuts were warm and fresh. We needed the gluten-free option and that is why we made the trip after hearing that they made them fresh. They were very good! Much better than paying five or six bucks for a couple prepackaged ones that were made somewhere else. They also had many varieties (not gluten free) to choose from: powdered, glazed pumpkin I think? apple spice, pumpkin spice, cinnamon sugar, and plain. Constructive feedback on the caramel apples. I'm not sure if it was a mistake or if this is just their style, but the caramel is so extremely tough to bite through and chew through! I say this as a word of caution to anyone with dental issues. It was really a struggle eating one. A nice charming place and we did enjoy our...
