Old Lighthouse Beach Access — Attraction in Hatteras Island

This is a beautiful beach. There is a nice parking lot and access for on beach drivers who have permits. Nice beach for walking on and lots of room to lay out and play beach sports. All the way to the left is the old site for ther Cape Hatteras lighthouse. This beach is a good place to visit after you have been to the visitors center and learned about the lighthouse being moved to its current site. This is a wonderful beach access, the parking lot is well kept, really easy to walk right onto the beach. Perfect for watching the sunrise, seeing the lighthouse and one morning I had visited, it was full of shells. Has picnic benches and really just enjoyed the short drive over and direct access to the beach. My favorite access of the entire trip. I am fortunate to be able to walk to this beach from my place in about 20 minutes. It is spectacular! Hatteras Island has lots of amazing beaches but this is one of my favorites. It is clean with lots of parking. It has great waves and never seems to get too crowded. It is nice and wide as well. And of course the world famous Cape Hatteras lighthouse is just over the dunes....
