It's a beautiful harbor across from the Captain Cook Memorial. The land that the memorial is on was deeded to Britain. Captain Cook was killed by the Hawaiians on his second visit to the island 2 weeks after his first visit. You can barely see the memorial from here. It's a white obelisk from here. There used to be a beach, but it was wiped out with the last hurricane. It's said to be good for snorkeling. Perhaps that was when the beach was there. The swells were big enough, and the surge was strong. I wouldn't go snorkeling here unless it was a very calm day. There doesn't appear to be a reef here. Read moreWe ended up driving the back roads to and from Two Step Beach via Kona. While driving on this road, we wondered if we were going the right way as it said Dead End... which was fine as we ended up here, where we intended.
It's mostly signage as, of course, you can't get up on the Platform; which is understandable. However, it's too bad a higher platform for viewing couldn't be built to better observe the area. I managed to stand on an old tree stump to see above the platform.
