Worth a visit but for us, we were covered in clouds there. The visitor center had a huge line outside of it so we skipped it. It was hard to see anything but the clouds were cool to watch. Very cold, bring warm clothes, layers and a rain jacket too.

You can experience some out of the world views from here (plan for the sunset). And its a great drive, even if you do not plan to visit the summit. Please do not miss this spot in the Big Island!

Absolutely beautiful and humbling, the summit is just plain gorgeous, the views absolutely stunning. Everytime is the perfect but time to go -sunrise, sunset, night, day, anytime in between. Although I'll say midnight was the best drive up, just you and all. I went for the stars all of it, best place for celestial bodies and their machinations and just to re-energize. And remember to be humble, courteous, respectful wherever you are on this island, or any other Island you happen to...

WARNING: Kaaliali Trail is NOT suitable for DIRT BIKES unless you like MARBLES! CHOKE MARBLES! Unfortunately, all of the ATVs have turned up loose ground, revealing large rocks all over the trail, averaging from 2-4 inches up to 4-8 inches. NOT A JOKE!!! Which sucks because the trail goes all the way around the mountain to the other side and would be a perfect trail. Our reps need to know the trail is not being maintained and...

Man! Met some of the friendliest park rangers! Our car had a dead battery and AAA was not going to travel here. The park rangers charged our car and got us back on the road. Big thanks guys! Side note don’t rent a car from thrifty… 2 exchanges in 2 weeks is beyond ridiculous! All with safety...
