Dynamite, off-the-beaten-path find! Well laid out and presented little studio with some awesome pieces and a great backstory. 3rd generation Japanese descended family runs a great art studio, but don't miss the estate grown, medium roast coffee they grow. The little town of Holualoa comes alive in the afternoon of the FIRST Friday of the month (in non-covid times)

On first Friday's it is not uncommon to be able to watch Hiroki kneeling on the floor as he makes the traditional Japanese style water based prints. He hand rubs each print with a baren. Multiple layers of color are added each one using a separate hand carved wood block. It's quite impressive. His lovely wife, Setsuko, gives informational and often humorous anecdotes about the individual artworks in the gallery. She is a master potter and a few of her pieces are...

Incredible artwork in a serene and contemplative gallery setting. Hiroki Morinoue's woodcuts are beautiful and thoughtful. The gallery is set out like an indoor Japanese garden with lots of light and even spaces to sit and enjoy the art. Hiroki's daughter Miko was very welcoming- a...
