Went there 1st time Sun March 6. Kids playground is gone. Nothing but wood chips and a couple leftover posts with concrete at the base. Would be nice if the County had info for when it may possibly replace the play equipment. Nothing on the county website about it being under construction either - I know - I looked this place up on the site to see where parking and facilities are. Lake is a nice size. Can't walk around the lake, it's just overgrown and swampy. Not a huge amount of trails. Enjoyed the sounds of wildlife though. It was a mudpit around the bird blind. It was a mudpit around pavilion 1. Forest wasn't too muddy. At 2pm only gulls and Canadian geese were to be seen. A hawk in the distance on other side of the lake but I forget my binoculars. Guys fishing were friendly. Didn't seem like many fishing spots unless you want to walk through swampy overgrown shoreline . Nice that there's so many picnic tables. Port-a-potty open this time of year. Children had fun walking in the forest and down to the lake. Don't forget to check for ticks later. Wear boots so you can walk...

When I got down to the water, I noticed that the water smelled of sewage and there wasn't much wildlife in the water, however I did see a heron and osprey fly overhead when I got there.
I didn't see many options for walking around the lake and no one was on the lake. It almost felt abandoned or that something bad happened there and it was ghostly.
It was a colder and windier day without a lot of people, so maybe that added to the experience. Although, after I left the park, I asked a few others what they thought. Without sharing my experience, they expressed...
Read moreBeautiful lake, was looking for something to do and I drove by this park. Not expecting much I was absolutely blown away. The park has a huge lake, my son and I walked the trails and found a few snakes. The lake had swarms of purple Martin's flying around. A very welcome surprise, I've never seen one before. My son gave it two thumbs up for the park itself and two thumbs down for the playground. He said it was boring... Guess you can't...
