Dunmaglas bride to bride: I was eager & excited to start wedding planning. I spoke with the owner, was quoted over the phone a number I will not mention but 1 that was far off from what I received in the contract. Once I brought this up things were corrected thankfully but this should have been the start of a lot of red flags. We booked the entire place out for the weekend including every condo they had to offer. AC of one unit was not working & had an obvious leak was from ceiling where water was seeping through. Another condo had water coming out of the electrical box. 1 of the rooms didn’t have its own entrance key & the “master key” didn’t open it which is a major safety hazard. They did not provide a condo layout for booking only a verbal description which made it difficult. They do expect u to fill each room w/ a guests w/o ever even being provided condo numbers. *Rooms are different. So entire rooms were split up incorrectly, which I the bride had to sort out the day be 4 my wedding. I was handed all the keys & had to deal w/ the issues myself. The poor women at the pro shop was new there4 no help. She had no idea how to do simple calculations in order for my guests to split the condos cost. The alcohol list I provided 3 separate times via email was screwed up, they purchased Jim beam fire instead of regular Jean beam as requested therefore our bar menus were incorrect. The bartenders were very rude & not at all friendly to guests *heard this directly from multiple ppl who attended the wedding including ppl who had no consumption of alcohol. They didn’t know the difference between each of the alcohols. Ppl would request a drink & receive something totally different. I also had to simplify my bar drinks & provide recipes for them multiple times! This is a summed up copy of a email I had to share over & over to different ppl becus when it was sent to a manager & was not passed onto the right hands. This is a copy of my menu which was messed up by not only the bar tenders but as I said be 4 by the person who was in charge of purchasing the alcohol. MULE: SHIRLY TEMPLY: *these will also be provided as virgin MOJITO: Vodka-Cran Jack & Coke These will be listed on the bar menu. I would expect to be asked to make other cocktails that may not be mentioned such as vodka lemonades, Jim beam & Coke, captain & Coke... The bar tenders honestly couldn’t even poor a beer out of a pitcher. Mind u the about average per fifth was $89. On top of all of this regarding the bar they collected tips on many drinks. *They told me it was only for the cash portion of the bar but most of my guest reported not paying for a single drink, the limit was supposed to be 2 drinks per guest. I was told I could start set up & bringing things to the venue staring Wed. the week of the wedding. The barn still had not been cleaned by this day. I started set up on Thurs. & the dance floor which is a covered pavilion had multiple spots of what I believe was bird poop. Requested a mop & broom & never received the mop. It was never fully cleaned. The chairs that were brought up the the hill for the ceremony space must have been hosed off, is my guess being they were soaking wet. We had to tip & dry them all. I was told 8 foot long banquet style tables & they were not all 8 foot so the day before the wedding I had to rearrange tables that I had 8 people at & some of my guests had to squish into a 6 foot table bcus I had no other option. I also had to cut & adjust center pieces due to this error on Dunmaglas behalf. I had to micromanage everyone who worked there & take many matters into my own hands to pull my day off. I was told the owner wasn’t on site & he would be contacted for any questions the workers had which I assume did not happen. The owner showed up to the wedding dresses as though he was going golfing in shorts & a red shirt I do believe was the exact outfit. This made him look unprofessional in my opinion, he should have been dressed to attend the wedding regardless if he was only lurking in...

I would like to say my family has a wonderful history playing at this course. My late grandfather through myself all put multiple rounds on this course each year when we could come to northern Michigan.

Overall the conditions for many of the courses in the area are very dependent on the weather in northern Michigan at the time. Even after coming out of the dry spell we have had up here I was surprised to see 90-95% of the course was a gorgeous lush green. Each and every hole has it's own unique challenges, if you want to, you can break this course down in to 6 three hole stretches that very drastically from what you have just came from and make you re think your shots. Plus with how the course is laid out you rarely run into another group or have to wait for your turn on the tee box. The most you'll hear if the faint sound of a golf ball hitting a tree. The bunkers, or as we call the "Dunm Holes" on several will leave you frustrated. So do yourself a favor if your playing here for your first time and head up the hole to scout out your locations because you can end up in some nasty areas.

While the course does lack amenities that many of the other courses in the area give, comfortable carts, restaurant to grab a bite and usb ports to charge your phone. I don't think it really suffers from them to much. If you are there to play golf, work on your game and enjoy the views this amazing course offers you, then you are in the right place.

While it would be nice to have this course updated a bit more with better carts, and other little things. I don't think it suffers from the lack of them. But sooner rather then later, they will be due.

my only complaint is the some of the greens were beat up, but that's from golfers not fixing their...

Gravel parking lot, old carts, bald tires, old farmhouse for a pro shop/restaurant, piss poor driving range and old balls. Still, I wasn't deterred. Maybe this is just a quaint start to what would be an awesome golf course. $99? OK, must be even better than I thought! As far as the golf goes, first the good: It was a beautiful piece of land with great views. Then the rest: It is being terribly neglected. Weeds in the fairways, teeboxes, and even dandelions growing on a few greens. I struggled with PGA rules violations, but broke dandelions behind my lie (Couldn't help it, I paid 99 DOLLARS FOR THIS). I have no idea what caused the damage in some of the fairways, grass was literally torn up and flipped over as if a rabid bull was running around goring at the ground. My suggestion to the owner, who was a very very nice guy, but just in over his head: Go look around northern MI at the amenities and condition at the courses that charge $99. Yours in the condition it is in should be in the $40-$45 range. But the good news is you'll probably get 5X the traffic at those rates. I don't know what else to say it was a 5 star plot of land in...
