A beautiful spot where the Appalachain Trail crosses a larger road that also happens to be a great bicycling route. A nice plaque marks the AT. I biked there from Helen. The climb up northward from Helen is long-- almost 11 miles of uphill--but not steep. The first 7.5 mi are only about 2%, and the last 3.5 mi are about 5%. The road is nice, enough views and nature sounds to keep you distracted from the effort of the climb, with decent room for cars to pass safely.
